I agree with you - I have a lot more respect for Lucas than the others. But he's simply not at the level we require if we want to be competing. Sanchez didn't look poor for Barca. He certainly wasn't their best player and his style wasn't suited to that team but he was still a quality player. Lucas looks a lot better because he is in that role that Stevie butchered. Any DM solution was always going to look good. And the original point I was trying to make is that these senior players should have been replaced by now. Skrtel, Lucas and Johnson all became regulars around 2009 which coincidentally was the start of our demise over the past 5-6 years. They all stood out in poor performing teams. But when we finally did well last season - Lucas was nowhere to be seen, Johnson was sh*t and found out and Skrtel is still a liability. Funny thing is, Skrtel and Johnson are looking terrible even in this poor performing team. BR has spent over £200m and we're still using average players from previous regimes.
And Lucas has been our best performer since he came in, and the point I was trying to make wasn't to single him out. But we've needed a top class DM since Mash left and we haven't bought one. We're still relying on Lucas.
It's the same with Kolo. He's improved us because he was replacing dross. But that's not to say we should be playing him week in week out for the next 3-4 years. It just means that with Kolo and Lucas in the team, we're less **** than before. If we want to be competing for titles, we need to improve massively. There are certainly other areas which are letting us down before I would get rid of the two players above.
if we want to improve the first thing that needs to happen is a replacement manager because brendan has not got a clue!!! brendan is the main culprit not the players.
His tactics in the first half were completely wrong, the last 10min rush was nothing to do with Rodgers in fact the only thing he did right tonight was to bring Markovic on at half time and even that didn't end well
You can't blame Brod for how introducing Markovic turned out. How was he suppose to know the ref would be colour blind!
Yeah my brain cannot get around the fact he has spent so much yet we are much worse. That is incompetent. I've had it with him really. He's got United this weekend as a final lifeline.
