close off roads to ensure traffic gets away from the ground as quickly as possible - allowing cars to drive down Walton Street from Spring Bank is madness - allowing cars to leave the entrance closest to Spring Bank and travel to Anlaby Road is madness - one way system towards Anlaby Road from the exits closest to Anlaby Road and one way system to Spring Bank from the exits closest to Spring Bank will see the car park empty twice as quickly
I was unable to drive earlier this year so attended on the bus. I must say i was pleased with the football special buses there and back. Infact it took no longer than driving, parking and walking to the ground and vice versa.
They tried that about 4 - 5 years ago , but the silly bastards turned the wrong way and would not follow the bollards , got scrapped after one game if I remember rightly ... people would not follow it as it "wasn't their way home"
So, as there is no real need to re-lay the whole of the car park, let alone a mile of motorway, that's one major cost avoided. Signage. Probably no more than a couple of dozen along Walton Street and the car park itself, not one sign per car. Traffic lights already in place - job done. Instead of ambling around pre and post game doing naff all, get a copper to do some work as part of their overtime. At worst an hour stood flicking a switch to alternate the lights. In fact they could even get the one who owns the video camera to do some work as well. He could have filmed the clown that pulled out in front of the ambulance yesterday, and wouldn't budge. Training the lackies, sorry stewards, in the car park. Easy - you lot point cars to go to the right and you lot point cars to go to the left. Job done. I expect it to be in place when The Arse roll into town. Merci beaucoup.
Yeah, quite a lot of land at Melton apparently. If only we had some owners that ........ maybe not then
As I said previously , was tried with blocks across the road , people simply did not take notice of stewards or cops ... its education not anything else that needs sorting .. and to educate the majority of fans ? lets be honest they cant use a scanning system alone , says a lot
There's plenty of grounds with similar issues, Elland Road's a pig to get away from and Man City's the worst, despite being new and purpose built, it takes hours to get out that main car park.
Tips: park in centre, it's cheap and a ten minute walk. Stay after the end and enjoy the food, music and post match discussion outside the ground. An eye-opener for those used to the 'You've seen the football, now **** off home" attitude at City.
There's a very good Thai restaurant in easy walking distance of Man City and they let you park for the game after you've eaten. Most enjoyable.
