What more is there to say that hasn't been written above?
I agree with most on here, it's not going well and the football is putting people off turning up at PR.
Something has to change, and if the results don't improve, then it will be the manager that changes.
 
Nug you've probably hit the nail on the head for me...in that under Keane and Jewell most of the games I attended we seemed to be getting dicked with wave after wave of attack always looking likely to end with a goal and we struggled to compete ....however under Mick very few times have I thought that we would be hammered and we are normally competitive and I have normally been entertained ( I understand some people only see entertainment in flicks step overs and goals ) by the hard work and competitive nature of the team.

On your point about about needing 'investment' I don't totally disagree but I think the price tag of a player is for me not an issue, tbf we have invested a lot of money on wages and also into the academy. That said would I be against us signing players for Millions.....no it's not my money just get good players.

As for Mick I've always maintained that we should be improving season on season which he has managed upto know and while it's still possible to continue this I will back him.....this league is always wide open until the last few months.

If I had to choose a replacement I think we need someone with a link to the club,young and not bigger than the club so for me it has to be.....................................Jay Tabb.

Spanish I honestly never thought I'd see you praising Norwich..........and don't see how there fans had balls?
 
They had balls coz they knew their manager needed to be sacked and called for it to happen. Never looked back, brought in a young up and coming manager with modern ideas and the rest is history as they say!

There is always some fans calling for a manager to go.....but in the end it's down to the club.

And IMO the jury is still out on Alex Neal I think the players didn't like the bloke before him so didn't bother too much but tbh I'm not that fussed with them.

Lets see - Mings, Chambers, Berra, Murphy, McGoldrick, Sears, Bru, Fraser + Niles loan..... Spanish you can slate the guy until the cows come home - you have to balance things! Mick's signings have generally been good, no question.

" Give me mid-table stability over a scrappy relegation dogfight, any season. " - Spanish I don't think Nuggets simply wants JUST this, he's stating it's better than dropping to L1, fair assumption!

As Westy rightly highlighted, I'd prefer mid-table over scrapping about near the relegation places, Spanish. Of course we all want to see us playing Premier League football, what Ipswich Town supporter doesn't?!

I think the main reason we're struggling this season is that there has been a lack of investment in the club, and it is starting to affect us. Look at other sides in this division. Boards are generally supporting their managers with a competitive transfer and wage budget (Brighton, Sheffield Wednesday, Birmingham etc). From what we've seen this summer, and indeed over the past few years, there is a complete lack of ambition and financial support from the board. Weighty, Jonah, and a couple of others have rightly said throwing money at players isn't the right way to go. I agree, as the Keane and early Jewell years would testify. My point is that we've priced ourselves out of players because we haven't be willing to pay money. When you restrict yourself in the transfer market like that, and this has happened for a few years, is it right to realistically expect promotion?

You'll rightly point out Mick's weaknesses. His dogged loyalty to three or four individuals, his negative style of football, and his general stubbornness in the media. But you, and the rest of his detractors, conveniently forgot the success he had last season and indeed in the first couple of months of this term, when we were playing decent football and getting results.

I will stress, once again, that I like the idea of a young manager coming in, shaking up the squad, and promoting youngsters/signing players with the technical ability to play attractive, attacking football. My point is that you cannot do this on a budget and realistically expect progress. If Evans sacked Mick, brought in a different coach with a different playing philosophy and said 'I'm giving my new man money to implement his ideas and try and pursue the type of players he wants' then I will support that 100%. But can anybody see that happening?
 
Nouble, Coke, Toure, Henshall, Stewart, Anderson, Hunt, Hunt, Wordsworth, Green, Tabb, Gerken, SEB, Vaselli, Tunnicliffe, Graham, Bajner, there are more like JET but cant remember if MM signed him or not!!

I would say that the likes of Henshall and some of the others would've been better for us if Mick wasn't manager. He brought them to the club but they didn't run about enough for him. I think even Ando and Wordsworth could've been better if told to play differently.
 
That is 26 i have listed, compared to your 9 and to be honest, many would not have Chambers in your list!
 
have not included the following yet as its a tad early but im not expecting much!! Douglas, Malarczyk, Knudsen

Spanish, a lot of these players aren't worldys and for one reason or another didn't work out - granted, but lets think about this a little more than just slating every god damn thing McCarthy does - you HAVE to balance things.

But seeing as you cannot give anyone any damn credit which I struggle with, there's no point hating everything someone does as you don't like them.

Tabb - like him or not he was in the side that lost 1 in 19 and isn't a bad free signing. Been fine for us. Same with Anderson.
Nouble - low risk gamble that didn't pay off - hardly Priskin under Keane...........
Stewart / Henshall - so we all thought they'd be crap at the start? Henshall a very highly rated winger released from Man City, Stewart had look good before, worth a go on a free. Same with E Banks Blake everyone was delighted when he arrived. Likewise Vaseli highly rated youth player, well worth a gamble.

Infact I cannot be bothered to go through this pointless cherade - as for the most part, they are all FREE LOW RISK GAMBLES - Something your man, yes the guy you actually wanted - yet HATE McCarthy - ROY F ing KEANE who threw millions upon MILLIONS down the sodding toilet.

Sure, Banj was crap. But we got Bru from taking a risk.

The point is sure, he's made some signings that I bet he wishes he could turn the clock back for, but a lot of the above were well worth a go.

Why have you put the Hunt brothers there? Noel made a massive impact for us. Chaplow? He was class live, he gave us the Watford moment.

So in no way shape or form am I going to slate the transfers on the whole. Other things yes, the transfers, no.

Low risk or not, you listed 9 players to try and prove me wrong, i came back with 29 you missed!! All in all, MM's signings have been average at best!!
 
Spanish I wasn't trying to name every single player they were some that came out to me.

As for the 29 you've named, not all of them are poor / bad players either they have just not worked out.

Mick's signings have been a HELL of a lot better than Magilton ( with £££ ) Jewell and Keane.
 
Im not saying who signed better or spent more, i was just pointing out your list was very very one sided!!
