SOS, I know you wasn't comparing, I just mentioned it, as they often get compared and when we lost VDV we replaced him with Dempsey, as while they are different players, they are essentially both attackers and we wouldn't have signed Dempsey if we kept VDV.

Couple of others mentioned the comparison too mate so just wanted to make sure people didn't think I was getting too excited over Dempsey's goals <laugh>.

Agree though, Deuce wouldn't be here if Rafa was.

haha I thought you was having a little dig at me! but of course I just took in my stride :D

........as for "The Deuce" I'm sure sometimes he feels a bit lost in our system, as at Fulham from what I gather he had a clear view of his role, which was to attack from the left and grab goals, in a team that wasn't under any pressure to challenge for top four.

    With us, its much different!

No mate, would've just told you to **** off otherwise <laugh>.

Plus at Fulham he was pretty much "the man" there. Here he's come in where there's a lot more talent and he knows his place isn't guaranteed. We're starting to see why he was so effective at Fulham though, who knows another month and he may be even better if he keeps up the progression.

Though early on the AVB bandwagon, I've been about as anti-Dempsey as anyone, so I ought to give him some credit. To be honest, I still don't think he's a good fit at CM, but he deserves to be on the field because he's a pretty damn good second striker who tackles as well as any forward and has a great attitude.

While Lennon was MOM, and Dempsey had the big goal, Moussa has been cutting a swath through Man U lately. His teams have two wins and a draw in their last three MU games and a lot of it has been Dembele owning the center of the pitch. I liked when the ref managed to miss an attempted rugby tackle followed by a blatant shirt pull against him.

I'm surprised you're not more pro-Dempsey rwaeb, given he's the closest thing you yanks have to a football player :emoticon-0102-bigsm

Makes it all the more tragic that the US plays ambitious football and scores dramatic wins in the World Cup, unlike some countries we could name. Not to mention that Germany needs to cheat to beat them, as opposed to merely cheating to add to the scoreline. ...:emoticon-0177-toivo

Ever seen that emoticon before? I know I haven't.

Just looked it up... (toivo) = Toivo Annus is the name of a former Skype Staff member. He was head of engineering. His "signature" on the Skype Forum was "Dog ate my headset"!

I think Sundays performance by Demsey is as good as we're going to get from him.
He's worth the fee piad to Fullham., but I'm always slightly anxious when he gets the ball. He is too indecisive but at least the look of bewilderment is beginning to left off of his face.

Still, I can't get past viewing him, as anything other then a very good sub., within the current Spurs Squad.
However, it is obvious he is a true professional, works hard at his game and appears to be well natured fella. So, I hope he proves me wrong.

Not in the same league as Rafa.
Most of the season he has looked poor.
AVB persists because he has little choice.
Dempsey is what he is a 6 million player which would not start in the teams above us.

Much as his goals have been crucial, and I really want to warm to him, Dempsey just isn't a Spurs player (if you know what I mean)

He's just sooooo white-bread, middle of the road, middle of the table as a player

I cannot think of any other Tottenham attacking midfielder/striker who inspires such a meh reaction from me! I no longer view him as Rasiak/Andy Booth bad, or Korsten/Rebrov unfortunate, or even Bent/Iversen underappreciated, just meh...

Debateable. Donovan has sacrificed his career for the American game, noble, but as a result I doubt he will ever come close to fulfilling his footballing potential.

I see everyone's forgotten about Freddy Adu. Turns out doing some keepy-uppies on a chat show when you're 14 isn't the basis of a strong footballing career...
