    Exactly Lotak, and the fact that a clogger like Dixon would now struggle at the highest level is an indication of the game's progress.

    A lot of the 'art of defending' in previous decades involved mind numbing offside traps, dull as ditch water game killers like passing the ball back to the goalie's hands, he then wastes some time, etc, and sickening violence.
