Would prefer Josh McEachran on loan, he fulfils the central midfield role perfectly...quality player who given some games under his belt in a row, will develop into an amazing midfielder...Chelsea value him that highly that if it wasn't for Romeu he would be playing regularly, just that Chelsea can't afford to have 2 youngsters in midfield atm what with their form.

It surprises me how we look upon Players as a commodity who have no feelings, no say in their own futures and no families to consider. I appreciate that all players want to play games but that is not their only concern and as all of the players mentioned are under contract they don't have to move anywhere unless they want to. Wilbraham is approaching retirement from the game and moved here as his last big money move. He appears fairly regularly on the bench so why would he want to give up his premiership wages just to play a few more games? Surely he will just see out his contract, work out where he wants to live after his playing days are over and try and get a contract with a lower league side in that area. Same situation with Drury except that I imagine he will wish to live in this area after retirement. Surely he will just see out his contract and testimonial before retiring and getting himself a local job in non league football as a Player Manager. Simon Lappin is slightly different as he is a bit younger - 29 next month - but, as I understand it, he is married to a local girl who refuses to move away from the Norwich area which can cause problems - just ask Mr Lambert!!! Again, I cannot see him being keen to do anything until his contract is up. Of course all 3 can be left out of the squad and replaced in January but they will still be on the wage bill which would leave complications for the budget PL has to work within.

I agree with much of what you're saying Mid-way. We tend to forget most players have families whose happiness might well have a bearing on any transfer. But I suppose as a footballer, as with the Military, your employment could be in a different area of the country from time to time. And I don't necessarily think its pleasant for a manager to tell a player he is no longer required. Most of us could do the same job from school to retirement and show no signs of decay but a footballer knows at some time he is going to lose it.
But the club is more important than any player I'm afraid no matter how loyal they have been in the past.

I agree with what you say and to take it further I find it quite silly that a lady who marries a footballer doesn't seem to realise that she might be be required to move because of his occupation. The point I was trying to make is that you can't force players to move and, if they want to, they can just sit out their contracts which is what I suspect the 3 players mentioned will do. PL has to work within a budget which incudes a wage budget and any moves in might - and I repeat 'might' - be hindered by 3 players sitting on their contracts.

Our squad needs improving and that's for all to see, but also players need to move on for space to be made for these players... That's just part n parcel of the game! Would you rather have wilbs backing up moro and holt or say a player such as maynard maybe being backed up by holt!? Just as an example!

Not the point I am trying to make. ' Players need to move on for space to be made for these players ' I agree but how do you make them move on if they don't want to move and are prepared to just see out their contracts and if they do that will that affect who PL can bring in because of the added strain on the wage budget?

i dont think we need anyone - it would be nice to have somone, but i think we are more than holding our own with what we have at our disposal...our defence needs strengthening if anything...luke chambers perhaps...maybe another slippery winger - cant help but think frimpong would be more trouble than he is worth...i'd love to see snodgrass given the chance to step up, but the quoted 7 million is ridiculous...

Gruffnuts- rather than Snodgrass, how about Ross McCormack? He seems to be on great form at the moment

gruffnuts, we definitely need to add at least two, maybe three new faces. its vital to keep things fresh and to keep adding quality to what we already have. if we stand still, we will go down. nobody else will stick with what they have (unless forced to) and it would be a grave error not to sign more players in january. thankfully lambert will bring some in, i'm sure. would love to see another winger but i too don't understand the clamour for signing frimpong as we are already blessed with enough quality in that defensive midfield area. a creative midfielder to play in the hoolahan role would be a far more worthy signing. mceachran on loan from chelsea maybe?
