In a nutshell .... all of this anti-Laudrup stuff is total rubbish ginned up by people with nothing better to do.
Latest next manager betting... Graeme Jones 3-1 Marcelo Bielsa 6-1 Morten Wieghorst 8-1 Gianfranco Zola 10-1 Alan Curtis 16-1 Gary Monk 33-1 (LOL - please no) Jones would be a good choice. No point having a famous manager who can attract players if that manager gets you relegated.
There are three reasons a player will join a club: a) prestige; b) money; c) opportunity to learn. (a) prestige => United, City, Chelsea, etc ... although now that we are in the Prem, we naturally have more prestige than say Preston. If we want to attract players from the lower leagues and take a bit of a punt, we're in a good position. If we want to attract proven players already qualified to play in the Prem (i.e. Prem league players, not players that play in the Prem league) then not so much. Our manager is a more important component of our prestige than in the prestigious clubs. b) money .... we don't have as much to splash around as our peers - or so the story goes. c) opportunity to learn ... this is where Laudrup has great value and has been the trump card in attracting the likes of Michu. If we lose ML, we need to replace him with somebody that speaks to a player's desire to grow and develop.
So we keep Laudrup, top players arrive and we get relegated. I don't see any logic in that. We did ok in the past with unknown managers and attracted players good enough to get us to top half of PL. I think Jones would do a great job and players would come.
graeme jones will be our next manager you can bet on it. Good choice and the best choice who could well be installed well before the end of the season..
our position is exactly the same as 10 other clubs at the moment, The bookies or mystic meg wont have a clue who will be the bottom three so no fan would know at this stage of the season as its that close. I think it will go to the last game of the season myself and if anyone can put a run together now will give them a better chance of staying up.. From now to the end of the season will be tough for every team and it's when the manager has to show what he has got in his locker to out fox his opposition manager. you cannot be predictable and play the same way every game or you will be in trouble and must vary your play against who you are playing against.....One thing in our favour at the moment is we don't concede a lot of goals but we dont score many either and our goal difference is better than most of the teams in the bottom 10 and that could come into play if we end on the same points. We are not safe by any means but at least there are more teams in the mix to give us a better chance of safety... we really need a couple of wins early to give us some breathing space and boost some confidence into the players...ML must show some leadership from now on in as its his job to motivate and get his game plan right...Failure to do that then the board had better act quick as games are running out fast...
It's a bit of a leap to judgement and an illogical one at that, that we get relegated ... if Laudrup stays and top players arrive. I don't see how that follows. The post of mine that you referred to is that Laudrup or a manager like Laudrup with some reknown is required to get players to come to Swansea ..... let's face it, who in their right mind moves to Swansea when they drive or train in through Port Talbot and the approaches. It's a wonder why they don't all turn around immediately and then fire their agent. The sort of players we want to attract could play anywhere .... they don't have to play for us. Jones is such a "rock star" in the world of football .... I'm sure he would attract those players guaranteed to keep us up. His contacts around the world are phenomenal and yes everybody is just going to sprint to become a Jack.
I'm sorry, anybody who thinks Graeme "battled relegation for years then dropped anyway" Jones is our salvation, must be on another planet. As Yankee says, the mere mention of his name will have players flocking here to join us. NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If Laudrup walks after Saturday, I wouldn't be averse to having Zola appointed until end of season. He may give us the boost we need. Palace have won 5 under Pulis - 5 more wins would be enough for safety this year.
I think this all mental to be honest. From what 'official' quotes I've seen written, this is blown up way out of proportion. If Laudrup plans to leave at the end of the season, I'm sure any suitors may be keeping an eye on him at the moment and possibly having doubts. Where could he go that would be a bigger club AND be looking for a manager ? If he does go, I'm not sure who I would want to take over, but it sure as hell isn't Graeme Jones - if that choice leaves me feeling flat - what the hell will the players think ?? At the moment everyone is sucked off with the performances of the team. For me some of this may be down to Laudrup, but when certain players put in rubbish performances that is not the fault of the manager is it. When professional footballers can't make a decent pass that's the players fault. When people like Chico Flores rolls around like he's been shot - that's the players fault. As far as Chico goes - I hope we get rid of him, he is an embarrassment to the club.
A little tweety bird told me Dennis Bergkamp well be our next manager. But I'd rather support laudrup at this time!
Th e rumour I have heard is that laudrup has some form of clause in his contract that if he is sacked then he gets paid 4mill. That is why there was an emergency meeting yesterday. Have heard di matteo been mentioned but as has been mentioned laudrup is still our manager so lets get behind him
Di Matteo would be good plan b but Laudrup is still a great plan a , I got no probs with Di matteo though .
Not for me. nHe's a terrible manager who was a puppet to Terry, Lampard and co who 'managed' Chelsea to CL glory! Gus Poyet with Graeme Jones as his number two for me
