Fair points made, Bodi. I'd like to pick you up on this one, however. The reason why United fans will be disappointed this season is because they will know that their team is a long way behind even the likes of 'Pool, let alone Chelsea and Spurs, and City. Also, I suspect that they harbour serious doubts about Mourhino as being the right manager to build the kind of success that Fergie did. I'm sure that they, like so many (myself included) have little doubts regarding Mourhino's credentials in European competitions, but is he the right man to build a team from the ground up, like Fergie did, from youth players, and to sustain the kind of success that United enjoyed in the 90s and 00s? Us Spurs fans are happy with 2nd because it is yet another milestone in our Prem history, and yet another indicator that Poch and Levy have got things right. Any disappointment that you might presume we ought to feel over not winning silverware is more than compensated for in finishing 2nd, when most professional pundits thought we'd struggle to finish in the top 4. It's all about confidence, and our team of young lions will be buzzing with it, next season. Finishing 2nd again is going to be a big-ask, so they have got to aim for top 4 + trophy. If we can manage that with the disruption caused by our playing at Wembley every home game, it will be a massive achievement for the club. If we fall short, there will still be an echo of glory in our failure.
They'll spend a ridiculous amount too. So will we probably. Chelsea, United and City, by all rights, SHOULD be next seasons top 3. Doesnt always work like that though, anyone could gatecrash the party, will be interesting.
Spurs could probably list themselves as the richest club in the world for one year only if they cleared their decks. Not something I'd expect to happen, but interesting thought nonetheless. I expect United to be busy whatever happens. Mino Raiola is probably greasing his pork sword up as we speak.
I love it when teams far richer than us spend £millons trying to buy glory, only for us to come along and **** it all up for them!
City - we've ****ed them twice in a row United - we've ****ed them twice in a row Chelsea - we ****ed them hard, last season 'Pool - we've been ****ing them hard for the past decade Arsenal - we've just seen the first of many joyous ****ings, this season Want to try to argue differently? Be my guest to make yourself look foolish.
