... just baffling that he didn't sign tthe extension put before him whilst Pearson was still in charge in that case ...
I think its got the a point where its dragged on too long. We should tell Cambiasso he has until Friday to sign the contract or we are withdrawing the offer
We'll never know if Pearson would have kept him or not - he certainly didn't rule out the possibility, which is a good indicator. But we'll certainly find out if Ranieri has the pull to bring him in.
Chill Proud. Even if he signs on 31 Aug, we'll still be better with him than without. We need to be signing midfielders anyway, which we're not doing.
This, he didn't sign until extremely late in the window before, so much so that we were a small step away from bringing in McArther instead, so i don't expect anyhting to change, he will hold out for the best offer on the table towards the 31st of August.
Silly rumours aside, we seem to have gone quiet on the transfer front. I'd like Cambo to sign but if he chooses to move on then so be it, good luck and thank you.
... think we need to put this into perspective - nobody wanted him to come here more than me - and he was fantastic - and I would love it if he extended - but he signed up fir ONE season to keep his opinions open presumably - I read somewhere that the extension that we offered (prior to the Pearson drama) did not include a pay rise - if so I don't blame him for moving on - we also must move on - but it could be worse - Villa look like losing Delph and Benteke - if we can bring in a younger defensive central midfielder I think we will do just fine ...
I'll be really disappointed him in if he does go to West Ham. Coming to us and keeping us up was an achievement, can't really see what there is to achieve there and makes me think it would be financial reasons. That said, they have got their "default" European place, so I guess there's that, but, if he doesn't come back to us, I'd have preferred him to go to another country (ie America) to win a whole new set of fans over.
Looking more and more likely he wasn't going to sign so blaming the change of Manager isn't the reason why.
As FF said why didn't he sign the extended year after we'd stayed up - or did he know something was going to happen manager wise?
My thoughts exactly I'd like to think, that if he were to stay in England, it would only be for us...
... the article is rather vague "the Mercury understands..." his decision 'could' hinge ...My thoughts - if we'd offered the terms he was after he would have signed at the time... we didn't... he may not fancy Ranieri or it might just be that West Ham are more in line with his contract ideas .. eiither way .. no player is bigger than the club ... so we move on ..show us what you can do Claudio!
Whatever Esteban decides he will go down as a cult hero here. IMO without him we would have went down last season His interview with the media before the West Ham game seemed to be the turning point in the season, it was him who scored the goal against West Ham that kick started the great escape I would love him to re sign but I don't think he will now and Claudio needs to bring in 2 new midfielders as King, Hammond and Drinkwater are the only fit midfielders. Hopefully Drinkwater steps up this season like we all thought he would last year
I think DD will step up, he was slow the first season we signed him and then for me was immense the season we were promoted, so I for one hope continues in this vain again.
Agree with every word ... but I have doubts about Drinky stepping up ..think we will bring in one of the Frech lads we are being linked with at least ...
As we saw last season, he was never going to be rushed into making a decision whoever was manager. Getting in Cambiasso was Ranieri's first test; as he was signed as a manager with worldwide reputation. If he fails, that's already a mark against for me - unless he brings in a player of similar stature.
