When fans pile on the pitch at the end of games (if that's what's happened) I'm surprised it doesn't kick off more regularly.
Had to go out as summoned to daughter's for Fathers Day tea just as extra time was starting, great to see the end result well done Pool, they were completely outplayed second half but think Torquay ran out of steam for extra time, Jeff Stelling will be like a dog with two dicks tonight, can only be good for North East football.
The penalty shoot out started as one if the worst, First 4 were shocking but the save that won it was monty esque!!
Hartlepool were all over Torquay in the first half should have went in at half time 2-0, then their goal keeper did a (Liverpool's goal keeper ?) me teaman is a Pool's supporter so got a cut out trophy to stick on the front door when he comes lol.
According to some on social media, “it doesn’t matter what y.oh say to players, the fans pay their wages!”
I used to play for Hartlepool youth team and now work in Hartlepool. A lot of older blokes from there follow NUFC (scum of the earth) but a good percentage that I know are HUFC through and through, proud Poolies. Delighted for those tonight. Good club.
I used to go back when I lived in Trimdon. (Late 90s) If pools were home and Sunderland weren’t I’d go to pools. Loved it! Great craic and good lads. Often saw players down the town on the night too. The Wesley!!!!
Nice to see a NE Team that can win a play off. Well done to Hartlepool and very best for the coming Season. We played them in The FA Cup a few years back in the 3rd round at The Stadium. Hartlepool brought ten thousand or so Fans with them and the atmosphere was cracking. At the end most of our Fand aplauded the H/Pool Fans. (Sunderland 1-0 Hartlepool United - 3rd January 2004 (FA Cup R3) - Bing video)
We played them in 87/88 I believe and lost to the wind! They took a corner which basically blew into the roker end goal!!
Think it was Brian Honour who scored that he talks about it in his autobiography I think, obviously as it's in a book it sounds a lot more dramatic than it was.
Yeah it was a lobbed up ball to the penalty spot which caught a massive gust into the near post top corner! Iirc, David Corner missed an absolute sitter too
