Just seen that Kidderminster who finished 2nd in the Conference this season, ended up on 93 points and still didnt get promotion due to the rule of only 1 allowed automatic promotion and 2nd to 5th place go through to the play offs. Kidderminster got knocked out of the play offs by Wrexham who finished 5th - 13 points behind Kidderminster. To get 93 points and still not go up is very harsh!

What do you think of that rule in the conference only 1 get automatic promotion?
Wouldnt it be better if 2 went up by automatic promotion and 1 up via the play offs, just like the Championship and League 1? So 3 up from the conference and 3 down from League 2.

People talk about the championship being the most difficult division to get promoted out of, but surely the conference is much tougher. There are a lot of teams of a similar standard all competing for just 2 places.

Really 3 teams should be relegated from league 2.

very good point <ok>

here is a list of teams that were football league clubs that have been relegated to non league and have struggled to return. just within the last 15/20 as thats all i can remember <laugh>

mansfield (now a league club from next season)
kidderminster
wrexham
grimsby
luton
hereford
macclesfield
cambridge
lincoln
stockport (now relegated from the conference)

10 clubs (im sure there are more in that list the oldies will remind us ;)) thats nearly half the league all fighting to get back to where they once was. dont forget the 2 that then drops as well from league 2 as well.

only 2 promotion spots is harsh. especially when the team that comes 2nd gets as much as 93 points! crazy.

wasnt along ago that only 1 was promoted from the conference!

Barrow, Southport, Gateshead, Workington..................
Halifax, Boston, Rushden, Chester, Bradford P.A........

It seems a bit harsh but that's the lottery of the play offs. I'd rather have had Kiddie come up, not far to travel away next season :)

yeah league 1 and 2 is weird. Is should be 3 down from league 1, 3 up from league 2, 3 down from league 2, 3 up from the conference.

no no shiny, i think league 1 should still have 4 to go down and league 2 should still have 4 to go up. that way more chance of city going down and more chance rovers going up ;)
