Give Scholes the captains armband for the Olympics team, pick the best kids we can, including Oxlade-Chamberlain, Wilshere and any other youngsters not guaranteed to play at the Euros.
If we take the Olympics seriously, we might actually win the tournament, we'll give a group of players the experience of winning a trophy, which can only be good for Englands future and by keeping them around Scholes, Giggs and whoever else for a few weeks, they should improve their game too.

He's not average, at his peak he wass the best goal scoring midfielder of his generation. Every team need workers as well. 11 scoles on the pitch and you'd finish the game with about 7 and they'd cover about 15 yards between them.

You need a balanced squad and your star/flair players to turn up at major tounaments (we're looking at you Rooney).

Wilshire will go to the Euros if fit surely??

And Beckham for captain of the Olympic team. Playing more regularly than Scholes and more captain material.

    Bollocks.

He's one of the most prolific free scoring midfielders we've had in the Prem, he's just not got the creative edge of others, who also don't have the goal scoring instincts he does etc etc

Lampard is 1 dimensional, and only ever looked good in a 5 man midfield, with Makalele or Mikel covering. He has been effectively playing as an 2nd striker throughout his Chelsea career, that's why he scored alot of goals, plus he took all the penalty's.

Lampard was never any good for England because we played 442, and it ment Lampard had to play as an all round midfielder, rather than an attacking one, and he didnt have the all round game to do it.

Scholes is a completely different player, he has the game to play anywhere in midfield, and dictate the play in a game single handedly. He is a brilliant playmaker.

The only reason Scholes was put out on the left was because we didn't have any decent left sided midfield players. He wasn't dropped for Lampard or Gerrard he was just more versatile than the other 2. Had we had a decent left sided player Scholes would have been in the middle alongside one of Gerrard or Lampard. There is no way any manager would drop Scholes, he was the best midfielder of his generation:biggrin:

Lampard is twice the player Scholes was and all the stats prove it, Lampard has played more games for club & country and scored more goals for club & country. Doesn't have the appaling disiplinery record that scholes has and can tackle fairly occasionally.

And don't bang on about what Zidane said either, Pele was the greatest ever player this planet has ever produced and look at the duffers he has said were great. Lampard best midfielder of the modern age :)

Since when midfielders only judged on goals, I take it you think Lampard is better than Xavi, Iniesta, Sneijder and even Zidane. Just out of interest how many of those goals were penalty's?

The fact you think Pele was the best player ever, tells me everything I need to know, about your knowledge of football:biggrin:

So penalties don't count eh dickhead <laugh><laugh> Football is judged on effectiveness and not who is more technically adept<doh>

Pele was voted as the sportsman of the century and beat the disgraced drug cheating Mardona in a FIFA poll and is widely regarded by all his peers and journalists including Beckenbaur as the best ever. So it appears you know jack ****. **** off back to the racing board.

You fecking bitters your all the same <laugh><laugh>

Glory hunters don't see it like that Robby and are blinded by technical ability.

The fact the call that ugly ogre cretin who wears their 10 shirt "the white Pele" should tell you all you need to know about United ;)

Talking about Rooney?.. bitter bitter, you know you would love to have Rooney, a player who works hard for the team. For Chelsea the only strikers who works hard is drogba and Sturridge, even Welbeck has been more impressive then any of your strikers especially Fernando 'i can't score'Torres.

That's all you people can come up to" glory hunters" what the hell, just because Man Utd wins alot of trophies, you people are just bitter thats why you call us "glory hunters", just because we're fans of a team who wins trophies, it doesn't mean we're glory hunters.

Fat "deflection" Frank will go down as a Chelsea Legend.

Scholes will be remembered as one of the most gifted midfielders of a generation.

Pele was voted by the guys at FIFA as the best ever, Maradonna won the public vote, I know which one I'd prefer to win. Having said that Messi has now eclipsed both of them, so its irrelavent.

Ofcourse football is judged on effectiveness, but a guy who takes the penalty's is obviously going to score more goals. Had Lampard been playing in a side that has had the likes of Van Nistlerooy and Ronaldo in it, then he wouldn't have been taking penalty's either.

Even Frank's uncle Harry doesnt rate him, or he wouldn't want to bring a 37 year old Scholes out of retirement:biggrin:
