Harry speaks AGAIN!

Hate to disagree but 'Arry is being consistant. By saying that if Spurs don't qualify for the CL we will struggle to keep Modric and Bale and also saying there is no way Spurs will sell their best players, he is reminding Modric and Bale how important and what good players they are. It's part of his man management skills, keeping their self belief up.

I don't think many of us on here doubt his man-management skills. That's not the problem. The problem(s) as far as I, and many others, are concerned are, his ever open gob. His tireless self promotion, and his seeming willingness to treat us as a stepping stone to further his ambitions. Now the England job has gone, his tune has changed dramatically. I doubt somehow, that a certain Mr Levy has forgotten, however.
To echo Spurf's words, I support Spurs - not Harry Redknapp.

Football can be a murky old world at times, and no-one invloved in the game should consdier themself immune from the sack. In my opinion, no manager at any level should be criticised for protecting themself against the inevitable dismissal. Likewise, no manager should be criticised for having ambition, particuarly when the possible opportunity to manage your country is involved.

Whatever you think of Daniel Levy, there can be no disputing that all staff working for him, will be aware of the way he treated Martin Jol, and so will be extra keen to mind their own back. Harry is no different, other than his high profile position requires him to often air his thoughts in public.

His behaviour at our club is no different to what he has been at his previous clubs. He has always been quick to tell theinterviewer what he wants to hear, and he'll probably never change from this. Of course he wanted the England job and of course he needs to button it more than he currently does, but to pick him up on every damn word he says, which seems to be the case these days, is just being picky and is unnecessary in my view.

But his affable nature means he is talkative- and honest and open when he does give his opinions. He's always worth listening to even if he tends to say things best left unsaid on occasions. Sorry. I don't buy this " coincidence" between our rapid decline in form, and our manager actively, and publicly, courting another job. Not on, as far as I'm concerned. I have supported Spurs for longer than I care to remember. Harry Redknapp can either put 100% into furthering the achievements of the club, or he can **** off - simple as..

Martin Jol made a rod for his own back in repeatedly throwing away leads against the top 4 by taking off attacking players and trying to do a Wolves/Stoke and then saying he had taken Spurs as far as he could so Levy was right to sack him

Do anyone think Harry is a good manager or has all this paper talk bolox. myself i just think he is just the run of the mill manager who wont really make spurs a top 3 team, Im sure there are far better managers out there as i think harry who is a nice bloke with a rich dog called rosie is well overrated as a top manager.....I really do..

That is one of Harry's failings. He has his favourites, will always try to accommodate them - hence the various attempts at stuffing square pegs into round holes that we've seen this season. If however, you're out, you're really out. He just completely ignores you unless he's desperate. I agree about Pienaar, it's a shame he had such bad luck with injuries while he was with us.

You talk from personal knowledge of the man and therefore defend him, which is laudable, however for the rest of us we only see and hear what he puts in the public domain. I am talking of a man of whom I have no personal knowledge, my view therefore is based upon what Mr.Redknapp chooses to reveal to me. That is why I criticise him, without the ammunition, which he supplies, I would only have results to go on. As far as I am concerned it is his fault for being so free with his opinions therefore enabling me to be free with mine. If he shuts up, so will I.

As for murky dealings and fear of the sack, excuse me if I lack sympathy for someone of retirement age who earns more money in a year than many earn in their life's work. FEAR! Fear of what? Pay most of us 2 million pounds for a years work and then sack us and I don't think you would find too many tears or complaints. I haven't picked up on his every utterance but after the last few weeks I am just a little more sensitive than usual.

As long as he keeps getting the results fine, but he has little margin of error as far as I am concerned.

spot on Spurf..we all know the Manager,not the man..and we will always be in that situation......and even through interviews it is claimed that he is not being him but someone who is putting up a front to appease the media?? then that means we dont know the manager either..never mind the man..so as far as fans go...what are we supposed to give our opinion on? we will never be professionals..although reading up and down these boards...many normal working fans have opinions that are just as good..definetly some are better than the so called pundits and sports media...yet we are only outsiders and will always have a dilute opinion in the eyes of those who are in the game.

So when is that opinion of substance? So basically you could replace the name 'Harry Redknapp' with anyone and had they come cross in a manner that alot of fans liken to that of Harry Redknapp of late...and they also would have got criticised...be it Mourinhio,Ferguson or whoever.


having said all this..i find it dramatic and amazing that once the England cloud was removed from White Hart Lane.......everyone seemed to knuckle down and now its all about getting CL footy and keeping our best players...when i hear my manager talk like that then im right behind him...even if we dont get it...at least we know that we tried and were focused...last few months disgruntled many of us because it felt like Redknapp was dictating a verbal obituory of his Spurs career because his eye was off the ball and he was flaunting with us.

that is why many of us cursed the FA...because since Harry was not their man...they left the Spurs fans chewing over the future of our club..when they could have put us at ease...and HR would have known too..thus keeping both his eyes on the best managerial job he has ever had....so it is far from personal.

the above is just to explain the so called 'ficklness' of many of us...but as things stand...Harry is back it seems...and we have knuckled down to the job at hand...therefore win lose or draw...i will back our manager...and hopefully over time the bitterness that evolved due to the whoring of our club will disappear from many of us and we will fall back in love with Harry...god knows i want to.

You state this like its a fact. It is not, it is your opinion. True he never ruled himself out and would probably have taken it, but all he did was never rule himself out. That may have been a problem, but it is not the same as publicly courting the job. We do not know what went on between Harry and the team, Harry and the Chairman etc, so we should be careful to make assumptions and then draw conclusions based on them. It would certainly have helped if the FA had been more forthcoming in their extremely lengthy deliberations, which apparently were conducted not to damage WBA's season (!)

If you really believe that he wasn't actively courting the job, or that he wouldn't have jumped at it, then I'm afraid you're deluding yourself. As PNP said, he more or less said to the FA "if you want me, I'm all yours"
