he was signed for £8m before, offer him the same wages as before and I don't think he's on 50k at Blackburn.
Expect him to sign for one of the Premiership strugglers (there's 11 to chose from!) on last day of window
I think he is worth £10m. He's only 23 and has done it at every stage he has stepped up. His record is phenomenal for his age and experience. A 4.5yr contract; wlil be valuable to us if we go up or if we don't. Seems a no-brainer. Hopefully we are just playing the game - would be crazy to miss out on the opportunity.
He's a proven goal scorer. They are like rocking horse ****!! Spend the money Tony and get him in!!!!!!!!
Totally agree. Plus, surely we're lined up to get at least that money back from selling Remy in the summer anyway...
I just hope there's some kind of good news before the window closes. There is a lot of demand for good strikers at the moment and I'm sure we're not on the top of many lists
I can't help thinking that we're going to lose out or end up paying through the nose on a panic buy in the last minutes of the window. If Redknapp is telling the truth there are some "lovely boys out there" but they're not worth what he is being asked to pay. If that were true I could understand the reluctance. However I do suspect that Tony F is reluctant having been burned so badly last year simply because he relied on Redknapp and Hughes' recommendations last year. The trouble is that a desperate buy at the last moment will probably add 30-50% to the transfer fee when the other side realises that we are desperate and have left it too late. Let's think about it for a moment. Rhodes is quite happy where he is. He must be because he's not stopped scoring even though he is in a very average team. If he stays or leaves is unlikely to worry him. It's only 4 months to the next transfer window and he'll still be 23-24. Blackburn have no reason or desire to let him go. So it's us or whoever wants him badly enough to stump up enough silly money and make them an offer they can't refuse. Stick another serious bidder in the frame and I can see us stumping up £10 million for him. Let's hope at the very least, for Tony's sake, that Charlie Austin is not crocked again before the window closes.
Tend to agree unless able to free funds by offloading or if the books are particularly healthy which I doubt after last season otherwise more loans.
Were his lips moving? Dave Jones said that too and immediately regretted it. You worry too much Yorkie. We're soon gonna click into gear and take off like a rocket. You heard it here first.
I've been saying that since September mate and even the DT like blind optimism in me is starting to wear thin now. I'm at the 'I hope we muddle through in the end' stage at the moment.
But being proven at the top level of French football does not mean that a player will always fit in with the type of football played in the EPL. We are being linked with some useful strikers atm but Rhodes is the pick of the bunch for me. I doubt that we'll get Remy back, receiving instead the £8 million supposedly stipulated in his release clause. Let's spend that £8 million now on Rhodes, in anticipation of getting it back for Remy!
But that doesn't work unless you know something we don't. last I read, he was still facing a rape trial. Who in their right minds is going to chuck £8million our way for him until that little difficulty is sorted? You're not the CPS prosecutor in his case are you?
