We had a decent side and Redknapp should have managed to keep us up. He manages by scattergun spending and his style wouldn't suit Cortese. Without assuming Adkins is leaving, any replacement wouldn't have much to spend. I'm not saying we are broke but books have to be balanced (see how Sharp was pushed out) and I would be surprised if there was more than the odd million to spend in January. I will add that I think the fans' refusal to accept the return of Hoddle was a mistake.
