I understand talk of Harry Redknapp returning to #SaintsFC is complete & utter nonsense.

    He also says

    @SimonPeach
#SaintsFC fans, I really would not worry yourself about talk of Redknapp. Cortese's stance is the same as when the original story broke.

    So quit yo worrying.

Lets start off with Spurs then. He took over after a poor start with the highly documented "2 points from 8 games" thing, and managed to finish 8th. Not saying this isn't decent, but Spurs had previously finished 5th in 2 consecutive seasons under Jol, and 1 season under Ramos had erased all this, leading to an 11th place finish, then the crap start the following year. Jol was sacked about this time in 07 I think and Ramos was sacked about this time in 08, leading to Redknapp coming in.

One of the first things that Redknapp did was try and rebuild the squad that Jol had after Ramos had sold a few of the key players. Ramos had sold Chimbonda, Keane, Kaboul and Defoe. Redknapp re-signed Defoe, Chimbonda and Keane in his first transfer window at Spurs, along with Palacios for a large fee. So he effectively had a very similar squad to the one which had finished 5th in consecutive seasons, plus Modric and an improving Bale. Bale incidentally Redknapp tried to sell that same transfer window to Forest, but due to injuries he became part of the first team picture and we all know what happened from there.

So to say that it was a minor miracle that he took a squad that had finished 5th twice in a row and got them to finish 8th when there was still 90 points to play for in a season is, imo, wrong. He figured out why Spurs had gone from a good side to a crap one in a short space of time and brought back players who were key in gaining them their 5th place finishes.

    Very good points made.

But Redknapp went into that club when they were a total shambles. He got them sorted INSTANTLY without a single signing and took 10 points out of 12 in his first four games.

Regarding his transfers, You are basically saying Redknapp Identified areas they were weak in and signed players for those positions. Whether they were players returning doesn't matter. He still had to identify the targets needed.

I think you over simplify what he did at Spurs. They may have finished 5th and 6th in previous years. But Redknapp actually went and got them Champions league football. Which the previous managers had failed to do.

First I don't think he is coming .
    Second .
I am a saints fan who works in bournemouth and I have a hammers supporting Manager & Team Leader .

One of my workmates is a spurs fan , and when harry took over , we all warned him that he would ruin spurs financially and that was his fear to.

It did not happen and the Spurs fan was gutted when Levy sacked Harry .
If he was to come and IN NC held a tight grip on the purse strings , he could do well .

I have also had this same theory...if we are looking like relegation candidates which is highly likely, is Nige going to be able to attract the talent to the team in January to potentially get us out of it...I don't think so, would Harry...I think he would, mr wheeler dealer.

A lot of bitter fans out there from last time round but he didn't have much to work with at saints then! Would get my support if Nige got the flick!

Agree with this very sensible west ham fan!!!

He is a quality manager who knows the game better than nearly anyone else.

I think the England job really effected his performance and the spurs team last season and I think he should have ruled himself out way before they employed Woy!

    I am pro redknapp!

    Redknapp? Yeah, right!

This story looks like nonsense made up to sell papers.

Yes he got them top four, my point being that I don't think Jol was far away from getting them top 4 either, and Ramos having a disastrous season led to this Redknapp is amazing talk. Redknapp is a decent, experienced Premiership manager, which may be exactly what we need if Adkins was to get sacked. People talking as if he is some super manager are quite frankly wrong.

Fair enough. I think he is a bit better than decent though. I think he did a bit more that put the final touches to spurs.

Not in the Mourinho/ferguson/wenger class but certainly considerably above average.

And as you say, quite possibly possesses the exact qualities you need right now.
