Exactly , the very same ones who call me negative are already talking about Adkins successor , as I wrote the other day loyalty in football is rare , we will always support our team but very few players or managers actually imbed into our memories .

I don't think you really believe that.

Taking emotion out of it, there is no way that Southampton could get a better manager at the current time.

I don't know. What do you think?

They are different but both are proven at this level.

There are lots of rumours that Redknapp will be offered the West Ham job when Allardyce's contract runs out at the end of the season.

I can't decide whether that would be a good or bad move.

About on a par I would say although both have very different strengths.

Harry Redknapp is a quality manager with a ton of experience and would raise the profile of Saints to another level. I would love it if Adkins stayed and turned the ship around, but if the decision is made to fire him and get in Redknapp, I'll be quietly excited by it. What he was given to work with last time was a bit of a joke for a man of his ability. With the squad we have now, plus some extra spending in Jan, he will do a far better job than Adkins. Sorry, but they is my true feelings.

I certainly believe the first part at least.

Yes, Harry Redknapp is a fantastic manager. A fantastically overrated manager.

It's really quite sad how many people still hold huge grudges. Talk about taking rivalry too seriously...

To add to this quote didnt he give Theo his debut?

I really don't know what to make of all the Redknapp stuff. Totally in 2 minds. Totally love Adkins and what he has done for us. We wouldnt be where we are if it wasnt for him. Although starting to think at the moment premiership might be a little bit out of his depth. Really don't know what to think.

He buys his success, linked to that he wastes a lot of money on pointless transfers (can anyone say Djimi Traore?), his tactics are lacking, considering the amount he spent at Spurs he very much under performed, he holds petty grudges against players, he's corrupt, etc, etc.

Can I ask why some people are calling Redknapp a fantastic manager?

Im gonna get behind whoever comes in, or whoever stays. Lets be honest Redknapp is a good manager, will probably make some good connections to help with transfers too. My only worry would be that he would not want to play youngsters

With respect, do you not think you are just a little bitter?

How can you say he under performed at spurs?

Believe me, seeing someone who is West Ham through and through go and manage my most disliked club and make a roaring success of it wasn't very enjoyable and no one wanted him to fail more than me.

But 2 top 4 finishes in 3 and a half years after taking them over when they were bottom of the league with 2 points after 8 games is not underachieving.

He spent a few quid, of course he did. But bearing in mind he beat City to a top 4 place one year, and Chelsea the other, I would suggest his spending is probably quite small when compared with the costs of those 2 clubs squads?

He spent a lot of money when he was at your place, but he still delivered success and it is not his fault he was allowed to spend the money he did.

Regarding corruption. He was cleared in a court of law.

Redknapp would be a superb appointment at Saints. And if they don't have him, West Ham quite possibly will.

Please read my post on the last page.

He bought through 5 England internationals at west ham. Livermore and rose at spurs. Someone else mentioned he possibly gave Walcott his debut at your place.

Where has this "Redknapp doesn't play youngsters" come from?

He did - and also wanted to convert Walcott into a striker, a position where he feels he is better, as do most people.

He got West Ham into the UEFA Cup, he got Portsmouth to the Premiership then came back and won them the FA Cup, he got Spurs into the Champions League. He's the last person I want to see walk into St Mary's, but his record pretty much speaks for itself.

Our FA Cup win was a total fluke. We were outplayed by every single team on our run except possibly Plymouth (though my memory of that game is hazy so they may have well done so). With the amount of luck we had, anyone could have won it as manager (except possibly Adams).

As for Spurs, they have been very near the top 4 for years prior to him becoming manager, so it's not like him getting them the Champions League spot is a massive improvement for Spurs. Just the season before they'd won the League Cup and may have finished 5th. To be fair though, I don't consider Redknapp the worst of all the people involved in our implosion, far from it, but he still certainly had a part to play.

I didn't know everyone knew Redknapp personally. What he has done with football teams is nothing short of brilliant. He did well with Pompey, and it wasn't him who ruined them financially. You got to blame the owners and the people higher up who push through the deals. At spurs, brilliant. Took them to the top 4 twice and also took them to the quarters of the CL. He kept West Ham as a comfortable mid table team for years and this was at the time WH were a feeder club to the big teams.

If he took over, I would fully support him. I have no grudge against him as he took over us when were already going down. We played good football under him.

Some people are so over sensitive when footballs concerned. If Redknapp comes in and does well then that's good enough for me. He is a good manager. Hopefully people do boycott if he does get appointed, there'll be a lot less clueless ****s at St Marys every week.
