Dont know why anybody is getting carried away about Liverpool, I cant see them being much better than last season with their squad of players and over the hill gerrard and carragher , they may have overspent on some average home grown players (probably to comply with home grown rules in the future), but Spurs` squad is still better even before we add to it.

Fergusons comments are just mind games to put pressure on Liverpool, deep down he knows they are way off.

With the amount of new players they have bought it will take a while for them to gel and by the time they do top 4 might be a dream.
However having said that I hope we start well and make sure they don't have an easy shot at it.

Sounds like Harry is making excuses to me. His mind hasn't seemed to be on the job for a while now. Wants to turn up, put out a team and then just hope it wins. God knows what happens on the training ground but looking at how some players have regressed it doesn't seem to be much. Doesn't help that the main coaching staff are unimaginative dinosaurs (is Les Ferdinand a striking coach? What the hell was he doing last season if he was?).

The main responsibility lies at Harry's door. It is his staff that he has bought in. He is ultimately responsible for the scouting at the club. But it seems that all he is going on is how much a player is worth and how they are currently playing. He is moaning about players wages yet Ferguson dug out Hernandez last season for a relative pittance. Wigan have been doing it for years. We know we can't compete with wages so why the hell are we bothering trying to get players who are on £100,000+? Ask once, yes, but to keep plugging away at unrealistic targets will cost us dear. Are our scouts out digging up undiscovered gems? Doesn't seem like it as the only reasonably likely striker we have been linked with has been the lad from Internacional..... who we are affiliated with anyway!

If Harry can't be bothered to do his job, is just happy to put as little effort into it as possible while he waits for the England job (God help the England team if he gets that!) then he should just piss off now. Maybe a manager with a bit more optimism and drive would do better than a washed up gobby has-been.

.....Though I haven't got a clue who could be our next manager. Rant over. I'm in a bad mood today!

What with whispers that Raul Mereiles and Maxi Rodriguez want to leave, their squad could get worse - both those players were instrumental in their revival in the second half of last season, and scored important goals when the rest of the squad weren't.

As for our inability to sign players on the cheap, I've wondered if some clubs see us as the initial bidder so they can bump up the price - that's certainly what happened with Arshavin. Comolli's profligacy didn't help, either...

On the other hand, we did get Sandro for £6m - that's 1/3 of a Jordan Henderson.
