There have been many posts and threads lately regarding Holt, Morison and Jackson but no mention of Kane. Could I just make a couple of observations. Pre-season Spurs rated him so highly that he was considered to be an integral part of their squad even though they knew they were buying Adebeyor. They said that he was not going out on loan again and this only changed at the last minute when they signed Dempsey. As I understand it they would only loan him out to a Premiership club who would guarantee him game time. Obviously he would learn no more warming another Premiership bench than he would on the bench at Spurs. When the top 6 clubs lend out their best youngsters on season long loans - Cleverly to Wigan, Wiltshire to Bolton, Naughton to us etc etc - it is always on the understanding that they will play lots of games. The Club who borrow the player usually have to pay a large loan fee, pay his wages and obviously sort out accomodation etc. The only return on the investment comes if the youngster plays and performs well. As always I could be wrong, and often am, but I really do believe that Kane will be starting the next game either as a lone striker, with Wes just behind him or as part of a 4-4-2 if CH is bold enough to stick with that formation during the run of games coming up. If Kane lives up to his potential he could be what is needed to kick start our season and before anyone considers this to be an anti Holt thread I will say that if we do play 4-4-2 I cannot see why Holt couldn't play alongside Kane. After all Bolton had considerable success playing a big tall lad alongside Davies.

I think Kane did okay the other day and I look forward to seeing what he can do. I think Hughton will give him a fair crack but no-one can be nailed on to start.
I'm hoping we keep a fluidity to our line up maybe not as extreme as lambert but picking a lineup for the situation didn't do us any harm last year. I'd hope Hughton will play whoever he thinks is most likely to help win the game and hopefully Kane is good enough to win us games and not just a loan in desperation as none of Hughtons top striking targets came through.
He had two decent chances and made an excellent assist in the short time he was on on Saturday.

difficult to judge him on 15 minutes! i've seen him play a few times at england youth level where he's been a stand-out player but as i often say, the bigger, stronger players often look better at that level - take connor wickham as another example. he's got good feet though and ok, he balls'd up his chance (which some people seemed to think was a sitter - did they not notice the pace that move occurred at?! - that was NOT a sitter, though i still think he should have done better) but there'll be more to come from him for sure. could he work with holt? absolutely, and i think he'd work even better with jackson, but all will become clearer over the coming weeks.
I think he missed the 'sitter', possibly because he was thinking too much about getting his shot on target, and not looking 'stupid' for missing the target.
I wonder if he had just 'leathered' it, he may have become an instant hero?
I have heard that he is similar to Teddy Sheringham, football brainwise. If that's the case, he could be a very good signing.

Time will tell but the potential is there. This chance by the way was not a sitter, far from it!

Speak to alot of my mates that are all die-hard season ticket spurs fans and they seem to rate him. Meant to be intelligent striker that would be better off in the whole behind another striker (Holt, Morrison??) and provide valuable link up play with our midfield. Again only opinion but might be that something different we been looking for...fingers crossed!!!
Shearer apparently always aimed for the head which meant it was on target firstly. Secondly, if the keeper anticipated and dived he would miss it and it would be a goal.
Yeah, I've seen the Sheringham comparison made a few times. It doesn't really give the full picture but it does illustrate how he's best used, from what I've seen. He played as a lone striker of us in preseason but I don't think that suits him. He might do well with someone playing deeper but close to him or him playing the "just off the striker" role.
The most important thing for him is to get some goals in him, which is easier said than done of course. He played well for us in last season's Europa League campaign but he only got one goal, missing a penalty and several other chances(some were unlucky to be fair) along the way. I think that was highlighted by the left foot miss from the counter attack that he started last weekend. He's showed really good finishing at every level of youth games but I think he was trying to avoid missing more than he was trying to score. It's unintentional of course but I think a more confident Kane could've taken a touch to bring it on to his right and still got the shot away.
