I was one of those complaining from very early in the season about Redknapp's selections and the quality of our performances. The general consensus at that point, mostly from those that bought Redknapp's propaganda about the possibility of our 'doing a Wolves', was 'look at our results, how can you complain?'

The selections and performances have not improved and we are now seeing results that are more representative of the quality of our play - not good enough. It's looking likely now that we will finish in the play-offs at best and in my view this will represent a failure on Redknapp's part. He has said that he will go if we are not promoted - I hope he goes even if we are promoted.

I known they don't work on set pieces, have you seen a single clever one since he took over. I'd be surprised if redknapp even does training.
Also its obvious not much fitness work is done by the look of some players.

Well out of all the posters on here Flyer may have been the closest to the facts ... he also knows his football and I find myself agreeing with a lot of what he says regarding the team. My point is that Flyer may want a new fresh team of young stars but what team wouldn't want that? We both watched the Newcastle game together last year and saw most happening before they did. Its very easy to focus on our faults that's simple But I welcome Flyer to name his side to play at home against Reading ... he understands the principles of our opposition IMO... each game is different and that's something I don't believe Harold looks at. We may well all disagree about certain players in positions but having a plan B is something he thinks about as each game unfolds from what i have read on here on match days away from actually being at LR or a away game

It doesn't take a genius to spot what's going wrong, we can usually see after 10 mins its not working and even then Redknapp will never ever make a first half alteration by which time we are often behind and can't come back.

Redknapp is embarrassingly bad at tactics, or should I say lack of them. He just think as he has to put out a better team to win, he's even said that himself, tactics aren't important.

We are still in the hunt and that is down to Harold. Now we need to see how he copes with his choice of a team ... when it really matters

I don't think any investigation is required. The only difference between us & other clubs that HR has manager is that we are still (hopefully) fianncially viable, although this could be open to debate.

A)I will grant you that he stumbled over a good & exciting Tottenham side, but that only came about after he failed to sell Gareth Bale & due to injuries he was forced to play him.

    B) The Portsmouth team struggled to score goals as they played the same style as we currently are.

    C) He didn't develop young talent at Portsmouth, he kept on signing older players that were no longer wanted by the selling club. He even preferred to play Alan Hutton at Tottenham to Kyle Walker!

    D) Probably true, but then so was Glen Hoddle & Graham Taylor when they were appointed.

I really wanted to contribute to this thread but its early at work and I'm hung over right now..

All I'll say at the moment is..

As for the OP Nuts, good post but who do you suggest we play in place of those you have listed as not good enough

As for Flyer, he crucified COLIN for signing Derry, Mackie & Hill...Look what happened that year...?

Anyone who has ever played any sport outside of thier own back garden wil tell you that 30 yrs old means nothing. You dont get a "happy 30th " birthday card that comes with a "now you are s"hi*e" badge...

Lets maybe start a thread of player that were/ore over 30 and are still quite good eh? I'lll start

    Giggs
    Scholes
    Beckham
    Nelson
    Parker
    Seaman.....any more?<ok>

The other point of interest from my perspective, is that we're not really playing that much different from last season. We start slowly and look disjointed. We lack rhythm and penetration ( Ooh er missus ) and any obvious gameplan. Last year we got punished, this year we get away with it due to the lack of quality in this league. It's like groundhog day, when I have our half-time chat and synopsis with Judo and SussexR. We look at each other, shake our heads, mention how we have managed to make the oppo look like Barca and that we could be at least two or three down.

Having said that, we should be OK once we click.

I've given up hoping we're going to click Nines. Barton said earlier in the season that we hadn't even begun to play yet. We're still waiting.

I'm sure nines was being ironic. We ain't gonna click now, we were all clinging on to that but reality has struck.

I'm not sure Harry gives a crap about us. The best we can hope for is that he cares about his reputation.

Once we click? You say that after four or five games, not 60% into the season!

I'm just glad we're seeing a sensible civilised debate for once instead of Flyer being castigated for making pertinent observations and howled down by a chorus of boos and catcalls by people proclaiming that we should ' trust in Harold', or asking 'what is he complaining about, we're top scrub that second scrub that third scrub that on the verge of dropping to 5th with 18 games still to go? I'm sorry it's not good enough to say I don't like Redknapp but he's doing a great job and he is our Redknapp. Those of us who don't like him feel that way for very good reasons which are being proven to be more accurate with every game. I remember Stan being encouraged by my report of our second half performance against Blackpool. I thought we had turned the corner then. What a fool I was. How can anyone have any faith left in Redknapp? That result should have opened his eyes that if we actually go out to win games we can. Easily. Instead we reverted to type apart from again a 20 minute spell of attacking play at Ipswich when, once again the players got bored with being safe and boring.

The mitigation provided by our disastrous run of injuries does not begin to excuse the idiocy of starting the season with two crocks and one fit striker, the idiocy of removing all other strikers by selling or loaning them elsewhere, the lunacy of not targeting a striker and signing him early on in the transfer window rather than waiting for bargain basement last day of the window by which time the price to us would have doubled given our desperation at that stage to get anyone at all to sign. And of course the master folly of getting rid of our one creative spark without trying to replace it. No. fatty Krancjar is not it. I do not believe that Redknapp wanted to sign someone but could not persuade the Board to back him. We could all see the danger to the plan that would be posed if our one consistent scorer sustained an injury. That is not just bad luck . It is criminal stupidity by the man tasked to assemble the right team to take us back up.

Spot on. Harry's got us into this position and he has to be given credit for that thus far. He needs to iron out the creases now, of which there are a good few, so we can kick on. This Harry bashing is bordering on hysteria IMO. He hasn't got a magic wand but he's having a good stab at it as far as I'm concerned.

I feel that the lack of consistency is effecting us at the moment, Harry is used to dealing with err better Quality players who are capable and used to swapping position and formation fluidly, however the majority of our lads can't. Establishing a way of playing and consistently playing would help this group, I remember reading why MArtin O'Neil could bring the best of err lesser players, it came down to clear uncomplicated instructions to his players.

It's one of the reasons Burnley have done so well this year, the play pretty much the same every game and have been blessed with minimal injuries in the vital places.

    Is that this season's 'gelling'???

We have played 30 games this season and are yet to click / gel / get out of 2nd gear / etc etc

Like Burnley's much hoped for 'collapse' it ain't happening.

The only way I can see us fluking an auto spot is if our nearest rivals perform worse than we do. And I don't think that's going to happen.

I'm resigned to a playoff situation and the inevitable heartache

exactly, people were laughing at me saying a playoff loss was coming weeks ago. we havent got the better of a single top six team and the only way we can do that is with a win against reading.

Its a tough old few fixtures actually. Reading can score for fun. Charlton away must be a win. Wednesday under Gray have improved drastically from the games I've seen them play. Then its MASSIVE LEEDS again.

We really need to see better service to the front men. Playing O'Neil out wide is a joke
