Mick McCarthy sacked by Apoel Nicosia after 8 games. 1 win, 2 draws and 8 defeats. For information only. Who can get sacked in less than 8 games? Pulis - 10 McCarthy - 8 ?
Good shout Sparks. Get a bet on that? He could just walk though as they misled him to sign. They said they had a football team.
Who could forget this bloke who managed our neighbours for 1 and a half games before resigning (and was later imprisoned) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kevin_Cullis
Don’t know if there’s any truth in this - suppose time will tell but please NOT Pulis https://global247news.com/2021/01/09/cardiff-city-set-to-sack-manager-neil-harris/
Isn't that what you blokes were wanting, Harris out? The old saying "be careful what you wish" for springs to mind.
But not Pulis in. Not a good move at all. In Harris' post match comments he blamed the players, the mindset, mentality, recruitment. Everyone but himself. Surely he is instrumental in all of that? I don't recall Warnock ever doing that although he didn't lose 5 games in 6.
A possibility. He has done well there on a very slim budget and, unlike Pulis, doesn't advocate whole games of head tennis. Still shopping at Lidl/Aldi though. We should aim our sights higher if we want to improve as a club.
Dont disagree. We've not been good at selecting (m)any managers. Doesnt mean we should discount anyone because of it. Colin did a job, but couldnt set to agenda for the long term and wasted a $h!t load of money.
Slade - brought in to do a job. Inexpensive choice from Orient after the Gabbidon/Young interlude trying to sort out the OGS legacy. Came in and carried out his instructions but could never inspire. His managerial record since then at Charlton, Coventry, Grimsby and Hereford tells it's own story, Trollope - seemed like a good idea at the time. His involvement in the success of the Wales squad under Coleman got him the chance. Ultimately out of his depth at the top job and was found out very quickly. Surprisingly quick action from Tan and the board in removing him, though I think Warnock available and waiting in the wings was a deciding factor. Harris - cheap and easy option. Out of work and available with no compensation costs to find. Wanting a job rather than being wanted from elsewhere usually translates into an inexpensive package being accepted. Never looked the part to me. Taking this or any other club forward in the Championship these days needs one of two things. 1. A manager with vision to motivate and get the best out of what he's got with minor tweaks on a tight budget, or..... 2. Warnock
An apt description of Malky Mackay give or take irrespective of the problems he faced when managing in the PL.
Apart from "10 game" Pulis, the worry is we will get another Slade as Tan looks to lower the cost of running the club. Harris is talking up his intentions in the next week so all we can do is sit back and see what happens. Anyone predicting a home win next Saturday?
