So they've chopped him then? Another farce. How dare anyone try and inject a bit of humour and harmless goofiness into this Forum. Sometimes I have to pinch myself to remind me that this Board isn't in fact the debating center for the Society of Industrial and Applied Mathematics or another intensely sober and funereal group. Its exactly characters like the one who's just been tossed out that make this place a bit of a laugh and worth its salt. He's totally innocuous save a misspoken slight at someone in the heat of an argument months ago. Yet he comes back, does absolutely nothing wrong other than to lighten the mood a bit and he's thrown out like a piece of dirt. I'm telling you now, there's a few people that take themselves and this Board far too seriously and they're intent on strangling the life out of it. BTW, I thought Board policy was that we were to be informed why someone has been banned? Or do we not even get an explanation now?
Wouldn't the explanation be that he's already banned? It's not a fresh banning that needs explanation, it's an existing ancient one that is just continuing to be enforced.
I share most of the sentiment of this post. I remember years ago drinking in a pub that invited an eclectic mix of people from all parts of the area. A slice of the local social demograph. As one would imagine this brought together some opinionated and forthright characters that were diametrically opposed. However the richness this brought was enduring. And yes, there was conflict at times. Drinkers benched for a week or more. But all welcomed back in the knowledge that their presence added to the social fabric. I've opined before that the beauty of this forum is that it truly represents those who I see and hear at Loftus Road. That includes jokers like Cerny and whether I like it or not also racists, bigots and serial swearers. I'd rather have them in here opening their minds to others than cast out. And if they cross the line - then ban them for a short while to consider their conduct. My recommendation therefore would be for the ban to be limited rather than indefinite. Let's face it, the great train robbers got 30 years but most were out in 9. Worth a rethink?
As I understand it, Cerny has been banned permanently by the site owner. Nothing to do with our board or our mods.
A shame. On a more satirical note, imagine Cerny returning - Mandela-esque - to take up the position of super mod in years to come! Free the Cerny 1!
No it wouldn't Grift. He's been posting here as Henry James for a couple of months and everyone knew it was Cerny but the Mods (rightly) turned a blind eye. A simple IP address check would have confirmed it was him if anyone was in any doubt. So why then has he been banned now, many weeks after rejoining? There can be only one answer: He started a lighthearted thread with tongue firmly in cheek and we can't be having any of that can we? Someone might get "offended". In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if some Muppet actually went and complained to the Mods about it. Nothing would surprise me with the double standards of some people on here. I don't buy it. If that were the case, why was he allowed post here for two months without problem? Are you telling me that the Super Mod just happened to be reading our Board when Cerny started that heinous thread about wanting Harry out, didn't like the look of the guy that started it, went and checked his IP address and found out he had been banned before? I know you're fond of conspiracy theories but this one is far-fetched even by your standards. I love our two Mods and as people I can't think of any better. But I still firmly believe that their style is far too restrictive in terms of allowing the Forum flow. Think of it in economic terms if you like. If a Government puts in too many restrictions, taxes the sh*t out of everyone and everything and cripples entrepreneurs and businesses with all sorts of punitive measures, the economy hasn't got a hope of developing let alone flourishing. If, however, the Government steps back and allows the people (in this case our Board members) take their own responsibility in creating jobs and developing wealth, then you'll start to see growth and expansion. To use another analogy, a good referee is one that allows the game to flow of its own accord and doesn't keep blowing up for every innocuous little challenge. When they don't do that, the game as a spectacle is destroyed. When a match is allowed continue with good hefty challenges given and taken (they are grown men after all, just like us) then it can result in fantastic entertainment. We all know there's always the same one or two whinge bags in football that keep complaining to the referee, some pretending they are hurt or injured when they were barely touched (Suarez, Young etc) and they're just as culpable, if not more so, as the overbearing Refs themselves in ruining the game. The same thing applies to our situation here. That's my opinion on the matter, make of it what you will.

There was and is no humour in his s*** posts and the board is a better place without the obnoxious t***. For fook's sake man, you obviously know a bit of humour when you see it because you were openly engaging in it with Cerny for weeks now! No, if anything it was him baiting me! I liked him on here because he and you were providing some light-hearted entertainment with your squabbles. Get rid of all the characters and what are you left with?
