Transfer Rumours HAPPY ?

Good window, only missing a full back really but I have a feeling Mathews has impressed Sam which is why it was no longer a priority.

Those saying our squad is now too small, remember were out of all the cups and there are only 15 games left before the next window.

As for Rhodes, he would not get a game. Defoe is not going to be dropped, they play in the same position. He is not going to come to us and sit on the bench. Remember there are only 15 games left.

Yes only 15 games to yet again pull of another run of wins. With that squad.

I'm happy with our business, I've been wanting us to brutally trim the squad for ages and now we've done it. I think the player's we've got in have addressed the problem areas, possibly not RB but it seems Matthews might help there. Terrible luck with injuries can derail any team without a huge squad but fortunately we've got a stellar youth team to call on if needed.

I'm quite confident the players we've brought in will do well and I've got a feeling that Khazri in particular will be a real gem of a signing. Hopefully Kone and Kaboul can form a solid partnership.
Pleasant suprises comming with points ???? -we'll find out by 2.45ish on Feb 13th - lol

Op on 26 March then off to Crete may 24
Hope you have good holiday, loved Crete when we went.
if you can walk the Samaria gorge, does the knees in on the way down but a great wok and super black beach at the end.
Also try the melodoni caves if you get the chance, the little town at the bottom is full of in breeds lol.

My sister walked the gorge one week before it was flooded.i don't know what year about 1990.
We love Crete infact all Greek islands are good.we have been going to stalis for about 10 years.
Been to Crete many times.we met up with a poster on Syds forum.
He lives in sissi bay good lad few drinks

Lots of questions for the incoming 4

Will Kahzri be as good as we think or will he be like Lens.

Will Kone be able to form a good partnership with Kaboul.

Will Kirchhoff come good.

Will N'Doye(?) be any good.

Will Defoe stay fit. I know he isn't one of the newcomers but this is crucial to our survival.

All will be revealed in the next 15 games. I hope Sam has got it right.

My daughter lived in Sissi for twelve years, had to come back when the Greek finances went tits up, as the lad she worked for couldn't afford to pay her, she was devastated, worked for All Inclusive travel agent on the main street, had many nice holidays there good spot.

Not necessarily, Graham & Fletcher are out of contract in the summer so they're gone.

Coates has a fee included, as I'd expect Bridcutt and Buckley to have one as well.

I doubt we'll see any of them again regardless of what league we're in next year.
Domestic loans normally don't have a fee included as there is no rule enforcing it - but international loans have to (providing that the player is not out of contract at the end of the loan period) - it's one of the rules of international loans - we have one set up with M'Vila - doesn't actually mean anything as the player holds the cards

Re the flectehr deal (not yourself but a number of others) - most have said "we got rid without having anyone to replace him" yet we'd already signed N'Doye who is a similar style of player - target man but he's more mobile than Fletcher and may have more determination to succeed. Unless everyone thinks he replaced Graham which is a strange move to replace the guy who covered the wing as a defesive workhorse!

What about when AJ goes to trial and we pick up a few injuries? We could have to play wider players upfront. This means Sam has to pull players from other attacking positions, who covers the other position then? Maybe not an out and out striker but some kind of forward for the advanced position was needed as we are short.

Forwards

  1. Defoe
  2. N'Doye (new signing may not settle)
  3. Borini (Hasn't done enough to rely on)
  4. AJ(missing later this month, may never play again let alone this season)
  5. Watmore(very early in development to be relied on)
  6. Khazri (new signing may not settle)
  7. Lens (Hasn't done enough to rely on)

That's 7(6 when AJ is unavailable) to cover up to 4 on pitch positions(sometimes 5) until the end of the season and have to cope with any suspensions or injuries(which you have to expect because it happens). It's light as **** imo. Needed another forward of some description as the potential to left ****ed is very very real.

22 man squad, only 7 attacking players <yikes>

You forgot Toivonen <ok>

Don't worry about it anyway, Van Aanholt will get your goals for you.

This was the point I was making on another thread last night. We could so easily be relying on Ola. Who really want's to rely on a player who's proving beyond doubt he's not remotely interested. Relying on Ola ffs! We'd be so down if it get to that.<laugh>

Plus Ola hasn't been used as a Forward all season.

I'd have him cleaning the bogs, from what I gather that's about his level.

Oh he's capable, We've seen it, for all of one game he was completely unplayable. Never saw it again. It's defo an attitude problem, it's got worse since Dick left. Can't even send the **** back.

Every team can have a worst case scenario as you've painted (you forget to mention the possibility of Defoe getting injured - and then tha's all of them written off). I think we've got better options than before with Graham and Fletcher gone - the new guys can't be as bad as them!

Of course every team has a worst case scenario, but other teams have taken steps to make sure it doesn't happen, we haven't. That's my point. Thread is called happy? I'm not and that's why. Same as the end of the summer window when I wasn't happy with the depth of the defence, here we are going into the last 15 games with the worst defence record in the league. I think my concerns are valid and I've read nowt that's assured me.

We had a loan left, we'd freed wages. Looks like cost cutting to me. Preparing for relegation.
