Happy with the squad?

Is everyone satisfied with our business?

Got 4 strikers (although is Okaka wanted?) and a lot in midfield.

Maybe short out wide and at left back though..

Of course will depend on injuries/suspensions but the squad generally looks good and has more competition in certain area.

Still a few deadwood players around.

 

Hard one to call... looks like a couple of the players will be more like back up players.... but glad to see that Osaka and TD are still with us in spite of many rumours.....

 

Silva has to produce a very decent "for watford!" finish now.

 

I still would have liked to have seen that super solid CB (Kevin Wimmer or Dragovic who we were linked with and went to Leicester on loan. Having said that, don't know much about Wague). With everyone fit, I think our attacking options from midfield are amazing-probably the best our club has ever had?

I would like to have seen the guy apparently offered to us by Athletico Madrid. And a few more departures - more for their sake than anything. We appear to be a holding pen for careers in limbo.

Very happy with the squad. We seem to have genuine competition in most positions now, and I think Silva will pick on form rather than name - which should keep the players performing

There are a few positions we can obviously strengthen but it takes time.

We do need to offload some though - the squad is looking rather large. We could do with losing a keeper (Pants?), a CB or 2, maybe Watson. happy we kept Success and Amrabat as think they will be good squad players - although Success may have benefited from a loan and got more game time!

When does the list of 25 names have to be with the PL?

 

Cathcart, Dje Dje, Hoban, Zarate and Pantilimon miss out.

Pantilimon gone to Deportivo whilst maybe Cathcart has a long term injury problem?

Not great for his World Cup chances!

Yes but guess they might be worried about his fitness.

 

I'm more confused by Success not being named - is he off to Spain as well?

 

He's "U21" by 7 days, apparently so, like Richarlison, was never going to be in the 25. Dimitri Foulquier's omission has confused me though. I wonder where he's going?
I'm happy with the squad though. And the coach.

No. There is a dispensation as the Spanish transfer window didn't close until 1st September. I reckon that we've been waiting into Zarate's fitness assessment post Millwall before letting Amrabat go at the last minute. Apparently we can replace him and I bet this is what we're banking on.

Amrabat a surprise last minute departure.... I know a lot moaned about his passing... but I thought he put a lot of work in on the pitch

 

Yes, I realised later - didn't think he was that young.

I'm sure I read somewhere that Foulquier never actually got here - went on loan to Racing Strasbourg.
