    Jail?

    You'll actually go to jail?

    These days?

You're telling me that if you say you're English these days, you'll be arrested and thrown in jail?

    In jail?

    Just for saying you're English?

    These days?

Yeah, if you say you’re English, you can be arrested and thrown in jail, these days.

So much has changed since Will the Conker hit these shores. Used to be if you were French they'd stick you in gaol. Should never have allowed the Vikings (or Romans for that matter) to do a bunk. Boudica should have had a bigger defence budget.
    No justice.

Surely if you are English you'd be thrown in Gaol.

Bloody Normans, coming over here, bringing their idealised versions of Christianity, royalty and lovely tapestries. What's wrong with drawing pictures in the mud?!

My name is Paul Nuttall of UKIP, and I think the brightest and best Normans should stay in northern Medieval France and concentrate on making it a more economically viable state instead of coming over here and weaving stories out of string!

They didn't bring the tapestry associated with them here. It was made in England by the English.

It can't be. It features red crosses on a white background. That is enough to make lefties foam at the mouth and feel nauseous.

    It was made bayeux?

Actually, this joke was more difficult to write down than I thought it would be.

It works well in a Hull accent.

    It's **** in a Scouse accent.

It doesn't work at all in French.

    As you were.

Can it be added to one of those HDM lists of what are supposedly unique to Hull?
