Is it true that in Summer the place is populated only by women cos the men are out fishing for months on end?

    Or is that Iceland?

So did I, no offence, but if you were to move abroad why Norway? Spain or somewhere sunny I can accept... but please.. not for the love of a woman. You can get a decent one of them anywhere.

I moved 30 years ago to get away from Princess Charles marital problems etc. No I moved here with the job, and then came the female entrapment bit... Yo right about the Norwegian men being away months on end fishing women Swords! Trouble is now most Norwegians have got way too lazy from the oil money, and the women (and men)are mostly way too fat as a result.

Always happy to expand my understanding, I'll check out this Tolles dude. Sounds very hippy to me though mate.

Right, read a few pages, some criticism, looked at his YouTube stuff. This guy is a charlatan, and an unoriginal one at that. Please use "Believing Bull****: How not to be sucked into an intellectual black hole" by Stephen Laws and "How Mumbo Jumbo took over the world" (also known as Idiot Proof in the USA.) by Francis Wheen as the antidote.

Personally, I prefer the views and opinions of Peter Hitchens over those of his late brother.

I'm full of surprises, Stan! I'm also surprised that you think Hitchens a Tory - he'd be horrified.

If you knew your facts, Swords, you'd know that's the last thing Peter Hitchens is. And, for the record, I would not vote for the Big Three parties for all the ugliness in Tevez's face. There's little by way of daylight between any of them.

. There is red tape anywhere you go COL and I agree and can confirm that there is a lot in France and that I have used the system there so I am corrupt. The big difference my friend is that the Government of France knows that they work for the people hence the weakness at times as the power of the people is recognised . In England we have lived off a diet of spin since the war and the people in power and at the top have a different agenda ... this is at last widely recognised. As for the French being cowards that is your view but its not correct at all ... thats is purely the perception we have put across and the majority now believe. I state again that I love the UK but the SYSTEM is all wrong and that won't change all the time that people are ON Royal Britannia's nipple milk. France has many many different regions and as we do they hate each other from the north to the south thats all human nature ... I have meet both but the French people DO NOT act like sheep ... we are the stereotypes and yet we stereotype France as all being Frogs ... that my friends is the irony of the way we think we live in the UK.
My French friends cannot understand why as a nation we riddle ourselves in debt at such an young age to get onto a property ladder which has proven to be **** for most of the country excluding the south.
I also see Francophiles in France who simply don't get it at all and act as if France is another county of the UK ... The property market in France is generated by the very disease we have fallen foul of. They sell us all the old houses that no one wants and we do them up for their country ... If you think and get inside France you would understand this clearly .. we are the laughing stock and without London being the economical centre of the world we would be proper ****ed ... look hard around you as the average man in most UK streets doesn't know his neighbour is working hard to pay off a massive mortgage and is in direct competition to get more than anyone else. If that is being English then I am Englishman who thinks different thats all and that has shaped my life and also my outlook on a lot of topics , not all but a lot ... football being one as i have watched England believe its own spin that we should win every tournament we go into.. we are not good enough and we don't think right. I love french football having played there a bit ... liberty is very refreshing try some

I know Hitchens Uber. I've seen him on Question Time a couple of times. No offence intended.

I just wouldn't be Conservatively minded.

I'm not offended, Swords. Got a thick skin... and an even thicker head.

I am conservatively-minded, as opposed to Conservatively-minded, if you get the distinction? Whilst Peter Hitchens badly needs to lighten up at times and have a laugh, I find it difficult to disagree with his sentiments on law & order, proper government, Europe, drugs, marriage and a myriad other subjects. On the other hand, he's pretty crap on rock music.

I'll try it another way: when I once told a mate that I was a conservative with a small 'c', he mumbled something about me certainly being something with a small 'c'.

What I meant was that I am do not consider myself to be a Conservative or Tory, but I am naturally conservative by nature.

    Conservative:
    1. Favoring traditional views and values; tending to oppose change.
    2. Traditional or restrained in style
