Well it hasn't actually been derailed. The thread title may have been derailed, if that's possible, but the link in the op is about a different goalie, and West is another goalie - see no derail.
That's because the title under your username is accurate - you don't know your history! So don't pontificate about our future!!!!!!
As soon as I put that comment I realised I was going to get stick I do know who Tommy Lawrence is but obviously I'm too young to remember him. I had this video... please log in to view this image ...when I was younger and had to get rid of it because I'd played it too much
We're all allowed to make mistakes. It's whether we learn from them that's the thing. A certain Uruguayan **** doesn't seem to have done.
That statement isn't Scouse. It certainly is not English. However, if she did go on The Kop when that song was sung she must have had wax in her ears. We respected Gordon West for 2 reasons: (1) he could take a joke and (2) he was a good goalie - unfortunately. Anyway the word tart went better with the red handbag and doesn't even sound anything like queer!
Dave, our Jean was in the Kop the day someone ran on and gave him a handbag. having spoken to her before she now reckons there was a version with 'fruit' in it too, as opposed to queer or tart. As to my statement not sounding Scouse......
The first time Gordon West was presented with a handbag was probably the 63-64 season, it became tradition after that. Now my speck was lower tier half way up behind the goal with the other maniacs and we all sang TART
He was the first Liverpool keeper I remember but wasn't long before Clemence took over. Remember him being a bit chunky but good keeper
