Look at it this way - at least one of your high earners has gone.

    :)

It's going to be a huge loss to our team but hopefully the money will be reinvested. He's the best Ipswich player we've had for years, we haven't had as consistant a player since the Burley days!! I hope our midfielders can step up to the mark, look at how many goals he was involved in last season take him and McG out of last seasons team and I think we probs would've scored about 10 goals all season!! I'm pretty gutted because he has true quality and the work rate to go with it, we haven't seen that from a town player in a while!!

I just hope the money is properly invested. Maybe it might give Hewitt a chance on the right, not sure Mick was comfortable playing 2 attacking fullbacks in one team

Twtd reporting it is nearer £4m, I'd be very happy with that.

I think you have over egged the pudding PTC!

Cresswell is a good player but last season he was pretty average for the most part and we do have players that can step up. <ok>

So he had a pretty average season, and still managed around 13 assists...not bad for a defender. And I don't know why everyone is saying it's peanuts.....firstly it's not confirmed he's gone, and secondly no amount of money has been mention. I'll reserve my judgement once we know the full deal.

Warky....which left back have we got that can step up......Mings?? Don't make me laugh...he's miles off of Cressys standard.

Over egging it, he had a hand in the majority of our goals last season, without him we wouldn't score half as many goals. He was our most creative player last year. We're a team that relies on individuals to create chances and we've just lost the one who by far created more than anyone else. Big loss IMO but I can see why £3-4 million is good money for a fullback and aslong as we are able to invest in strengthening many areas

£4 million is more than i expected and i think its a great bit of business, Mings is a cspable replacement in my opinion and if the money is reinvested in creative players, im all for it!!
I think Cressy is a good player but not great and we will do fine without him!!

Sold - now apparently £4 mill rising to £7 mill.

If true about the fee I'm very pleased - also happy its done now not late August. We're building the right way.

£4m rising to £7m is a fantastic bit of business, whoever does the negotiation whether it's Mick, the two MDs or ME himself they have managed to do very well.

Best of luck to Cressy, I hope he does well (and triggers all those add-ons!). Maybe over the next few seasons Hewitt and Mings will progress to the same standard.

If the figures are correct it's good for us and good for Cressy who, from last seasons form, needs a new challenge to progress, as I got the feeling complacency had set in. He didn't have the same appetite for getting forward(but perhaps that was just fitting in to MM's defensive plans).

I think it could be good for us really as Mick IMO likes the defenders to mainly defend......so I think a solid LB will replace Cresswell and then Mick will be able/happy to be more adventurous further up the pitch..

tbh, this deal is fantastic for all parties, We have got a good amount for him, Cressy gets to play premier football and West Ham get a very good player.

I don't buy it. Losing your best players is never a good deal on or off the pitch. If we still had Walters, Wickham, McCauley and all the others we'd be a Premier League team now and raking in £60-£100m a year instead of the paltry £3m or £4m a year in transfer fees.

Honestly think he's a huge loss for us (I'm not saying it's bad business, we've got good money for him) but he had more assists than anyone in the Championship in a pretty defense minded team and we think he had an average season?? I hope most of our players next season have an average season our midfield might actually make some assists!!

I think most of us have come to terms with the fact we are now a selling club, not saying it's right just reality.

Tbh I think we always have been.....and to be fair there are not many clubs that are not selling clubs it's just how football is these days.
