Stewards have made their decision - that should be the end of it. Well done Max. I stand by what I've said, Masi needs to go and this nonsense of 2 way communication with the race director needs to stop. It has tarnished what should be a great day for the lad.
Nowt to do with being a sore loser mate, what happened yesterday is an absolute ****ing joke and if mercedes rinsing the FIA in court is the way to prevent this from happening again then that's what needs to be done. If Max is stripped of the title then so be it, I would say exactly the same if it were the other way around. Hamilton has driven the last half dozen races on ****ing eggshells due to Max's driving and knowing that him (hamilton) not scoring points is not an option, he's won 3 out of the last 4 and it would have been 4 from 4 up until Latifi stuck it in the wall yesterday. Out of all of the possible options available to the FIA, they picked the only one which would see Max winning the race. A decision reached after :- 1. Max pits for soft tyres (Lewis couldn't as it would have meant giving away position....the world championship was theirs to lose) 2. Informing teams (and the public) that lapped cars would not be allowed to unlap themselves - i.e. most likely meaning that Hamilton would hold on for the win 3. Horner Spice complains to Michael Masi about lapped cars not being allowed to unlap themselves and wanting "1 lap of racing" So rather than follow the rule book, as has been done after every safety car period (other than during a wet race) whereby lapped cars are allowed to unlap themselves with the safety car returning to the pits the following lap after they (the now unlapped cars) have rejoined the back of the grid....which is done for safety reasons I have to add here, the race director decides to let the lapped cars unlap themselves. The madness did not stop there tho. So Horner Spice gets his wish for the cars inbetween his driver (Max) and Lewis to be moved out of the way....but none of the other lapped cars are permitted to pass the safety car. That is Mercedes' beef with it all.....you can't have half measures and just change the rules because it's the last race of the season. You either apply the rules, which would have meant all lapped cars pass the safety car and join the back of the grid at which point the safety car comes in to the pits at the end of the following lap.....which would have meant the race finishing behind the safety car, or the original instruction stands (i.e #2 from the above). Max has scored massively in the last two races with safety cars which has effectively won him the title, so it smacks of sheer hypocrasy when he comes out with comments like, this is not F1 racing and that races are being won/decided by stewarding decisions....well that all worked out quite ****ing nicely for him didn't it! Shame he couldn't have won it on track as I would have had a hell of a lot more respect for him. Gutted for Hamilton, not because I'm a Hamilton fan or because he lost out, more to do with the manner in which he lost out.
This is far from over according to a lawyer who thinks Mercedes case against the FIA in a real court of law where they cant find "themselves" not guilty is an absolute slam dunk win for Mercedes. See Red Bull's owner has threatened to quit the sport if Mercedes take the legal route. Getting rid of Ginger Spices porridge stirrer would be a triumphant day for the sport as a whole. Max would get a drive at a top team anywhere else.
I think Merc threatening to quit the sport would worry them a tad more given that they supply engines to 3 other teams on the grid. Red bull couldn’t even find an alternative to Honda and bought the IP off of Honda from next year…does anyone seriously think that after all the money they will have already pumped into next years cars that they would just walk away? I used to like Horner Spice but he’s turned in to a weapons grade ****ing bitch this season without shadow of a doubt and max is slowly going down the same path. I think we will see a very different Hamilton when the slate is wiped clean at the beginning of next season, I think Russell will provide the Red Bulls (assuming they haven’t walked away of course) with a lot more food for thought than Bottas has for the past 2-3 years, and I think he’ll out drive Perez every time. Hopefully there’ll be a few more up there as well. Merc could take the higher ground of course and just leave things be but it doesn’t seem to be Toto’s nature and I think they have a very strong case to be heard….if it puts that twisty faced little ****ing spice boy in his place then bring it on! They’ve whinged about not getting all the big calls this season yet when it’s finally come down to it they’re rubbing everyone else’s noses in it when it has finally gone their way. Nobody in the paddock thinks this is right apart from them….and I mean NOBODY!!
Thing is though, I reckon you could put Mazepin in the Merc next year and he will finish every race second - assuming the dozy **** stayed on the track. Mercedes pumped all their time, energy, design and research into next years car. The car this year was essentially last years. When Ricciardo is saying its wrong and he's best mates with Max you know how ****ed up it is. Found it strange Sky stayed away from the controversy - they normally always play the drivers radio reactions and they ignored that yesterday.
No you’ll have to elaborate I’m afraid…I’m struggling with that very loose statement. I suspect you (and you’re not alone btw) that your judgment of him is based more around his antics away from the track/car which is a little bit blinkered don’t you think? Apologies in advance if I’ve got it wrong…I’m always happy to be proven wrong but you’ll have to present me with a fairly chunky dossier on what he’s done behind the wheel of his little car to be held in such low esteem by your good self!
Jesus not this one again Cos Bottas has been right up there keeping Max off of the top 2 steps all season hasn’t he? There’s a reason Max and Lewis have finished where they have, the same goes for Bottas and Checo! Don’t get me wrong I think in a pair of different hands behind the wheel of that 2nd merc we would have seen possibly a different outcome to what we saw with it in Bottas’s hands, hopefully we’ll see that next season but with all the regulation changes it’s not gonna be apples for apples unfortunately but hey ho. Aye, the sky coverage was rather non committal like….unlike Coulthard and Webber on C4 (both ex-red bull drivers of course) who were rather in disbelief at it as well. I think you find that more with ex drivers than actual sports media presenters mind to be fair!
I think the Merc car next year will blow the absolute ****ing granny out of Red Bulls car next year, I suspect Ferrari may well beat the living **** out of Red Bull's car next year too. Red Bull hoyed the kitchen sink at that this year, Merc have done it for next year. I suspect with all the money Ferrari are allowed to spend they will have too.
Ferrari will be the dominant team next year. I'm a huge Sainz fan and I reckon he will blitz the field in a red rocket. They've used their increases wind tunnel time to focus on next year's car (since silverstone I believe) which will give them a massive edge. Red Bull will be ****ed next year. They threw everything at this year and won't be anywhere near the top in my opinion. Merc too, to some extent.
We should all be for McLaren. https://www.reuters.com/world/middl...-buy-stake-mclaren-group-sky-news-2021-07-16/
