I can see this going one way or the other. V could just nudge H off and win. One of them won’t finish the race.
Dodgy VAR decision? Hamilton forced off with Verstappen driving dangerously? Or great move and Hamilton should give place back?
I can't understand how they can announce a decision then allow a team principle to shout and scream (Horner) and change their minds.
I'm a neutral in terms of the drivers, but that was a joke. They engineered entertainment above sporting integrity. If they had done it properly i think Max could have won it anyway, but they threw away the rule book for the sake of entertainment.
Agreed. The sporting director decided on the winner of the race. Hamilton was the faster driver all race but was never going to be able to keep Verstappen behind on those tyres
Masi has been a joke this year, most notably at Spa. I worry for F1 and the direction it is going. The sporting aspect is being lost for engineered excitement. These American owners have no respect for the history and integrity of the championship.
You have to question Massi when only the cars that had been overtaken and were between Hamilton and Verstappen were allowed to overtake but those behind Verstappen were not. So all the cars that had slowed Hamilton in having to get passed them were essentially told not to do the same to Verstappen. Ridiculous decision.
It was incompetence that is unfair on everybody. If this ends up being decided on appeals and/or in court it will be sickening whatever trhe decision that is reached. However, I don't blame the teams going down that route, I blame Massi for creating the situation. He has brought the sport into disrepute.
Its gone to Stewards....2 counts. 1st count Verstappen passed Hamilton (briefly) behind safety car - penalty is 5 seconds and Hamilton wins. 2nd count Mercedes against FIA - All lapped cars are requested to leave race not just the 4 in front of Verstappen - this was not done. Unless Verstappen is stripped tonight of title this will end up in the courts.
Tragic that they can’t just take it on the chin end, as there’s been contentious decisions all season long, they took a barrister to the race with them ffs.
