The fact that apparently Ron didn't attend Lewis' leaving party seems to me that the relationship is broken; possibly beyond repair.
or at least have an ill-fated dabble as its a known quantity a bit later just to make sure the initial split was correct i.e. Alonso/Renault
True, but that could also be taken to mean that McLaren could have offered loads of money in an effort to keep him. They could have reduced his PR work, gave him more freedom with sponsors...even given him a personal Masseuse called Katja Von Boobalot. However, there has to be a reasonable amount of give and take and clearly they couldn't come to an agreement that would have been financially and socially beneficial to both parties.
The othert thing to take into account is that regarless of how good someone is, eventually personal preference comes into the equation. Maybe it had come to a point that the value as a driver was countered by other things that ultimately wouldnt make Mclaren commit.
Tastefully done Miggins, although the NSFW tags (hit Go advanced) would probably have saved you the hassle!
High expectations could only lead to failure in my opinion, people should just Stfu, don't jinx the crap out of Lewis and Mercedes expecting the full breakfast on a plate for the world. Brundle I think said the same **** with regards to Schumacher coming back, expecting him to be fighting for the WDC after a year and that he was going to wipe the floor with Rosberg, in a way it all ended in failure. So people, journalists, haters, fanboys..... Stfu and let's see what happens and not dig a hole for ourselves here.
Yeah I can't see how Brundle can say that if he reviews the past few seasons for Mercedes. The fact that they have fallen back as the past few seasons have progressed doesn't make me think they will challenge for more wins just because Lewis is there either.
