Have you not considered that he might not have wanted to come and play for City? Not every setback is the clubs fault.
When we made the offer for him before, that was after we'd extended Brady's loan and signed King wasn't it? If we wanted him then, what's changed now that's made us decide we don't need him?
Because Barmby is being a stubborn twat in all honesty, he seems set on thinking we don't need anyone, it's fairly obvious that a couple of injuries will finish us off. I hope he doesn't live to regret this.
We should have gone for... ...no, what I was getting at was that the situation with wingers hasn't changed as a result of us signing someone, so is it as a result of not selling someone? And after that, was the original bid based on us selling someone first (McLean or Simpson?).
This whole situation is really starting to piss me off quite frankly. We are completely ruining our chance of getting promoted because we are not signing any players. Its obvious to anyone and everyone that we need to bring some players in yet we just refuse to do it. How many more 0-0's or 1-0 defeats is it going to take before something changes?
+1 we've blown it this season already imo. Our defence is simply outstanding, all we needed was abit of investement to bring in a goal scorer and a winger such as Hammill (who was widley regarded as one of the best players in this division at Barnsley) and we'd be certainties for promotion. Now we have to pray that our core of 11 or 12 players capable of starting starting every week to sneak in, if we lose any of our starting defence we're doomed.
People seem intent on looking at the negatives. Premiertiger said we turned Hammill down, but didn't say why. It could have been his wage demands, injury, any fee being asked. The simple fact is nearly everyone on here doesn't know, but are assuming that it's because NB thinks we don't need him.
The thing about football forums is that people express their own opinions on the team based on their own observations of watching it over a long period. Thankfully we don't have to be follow the club line on everything even if we disagree with it. IMO I'm happy with almost every aspect of Barmby's leadership, except that he has made a crucial mistake in not bringing in at least one attacking player and I think at the end of the season that mistake will stand out if we fail to go up.
Craig, I wasn't for one moment suggesting that everyone should just blindly accept what is going on at their club. But people saying that NB is being a stubborn twat etc, for not bringing in Hamill when they don't know the circumstances are being slightly myopic. If it is true that NB is not looking at possibilities to strengthen our scoring problems then I think that is a mistake which is likely to ultimately cost us the chance of promotion this season, but the fact we turned down the chance of signing another winger, which we are not short of, does not suggest to me that NB is just being stubborn
I know you weren't apm. It's just that like you I think NB is being stubborn and it's only right that as supporters we should ctiticise that.
I just hope he is looking at a striker on loan instead. I fear we may not see any more loan signings this season though
Hamill signing for me wouldn't solve the problem we have with the team, he just means the squad would have more cover for the left side*. It is an issue if we get an injury or two, but it's not an immediate problem affecting our results. It's more interesting that we wanted him right up to the end of January, but don't want him now though. *I'm not suggesting he'd be cover, he'd obviously be playing, but it would mean who ever dropped out of the team would be the additional cover for the squad. And it's only left side I've highlighted because we have 3 or 4 right sided players already, but for the left and central positions we only have Stewart, Brady, and Koren. If any two of those players are unavailable at the same time we're knackered. He could just as easily have been coming to replace a right sided player with the intention of moving to the left if needed.
That does seem strange but suggests to me that there is more to it that NB being stubborn. We did want him but then when we were offered him something had changed, so could well have been personal demands or something like that which put us off??
I wonder if the finances are still sensitive and Nicky will have to wait until next season to spend..
