Campbell can't keep the ball when it's hoofed up to him, he needs to be running onto a ball thats knocked onto him, otherwise it's a waste of time.
Don't be too hard on the team - still a huge learning curve, but you're doing pretty well so far! Picking up regular points, just keep that ticking over and you'll be fine. And Marshall has been immense for you - gotta be the form keeper of the division! You are hard to beat, that will breed confidence, build on that and keep the faith - there are 3 teams worse than you in this league - believe you will be fine!
I agree with what wa said earlier about how difficult we are to watch. I am a little worried about Malky to be honest. Hull, Sunderland, Norwich, and even Palace on the weekend all looked to play football. We are the only team in the league that appears to think if we actually play the game we will get thumped. But 9 points from 9 games is not a terrible start and I can only hope Malky wanted a bedding in period. Perhaps he thought if we got thumped a few times early our confidence would be screwed for the whole season.
Matter of opinion that's usually tainted by club loyalties. In the case of Cartoon's post though, at least he's talking about another team's keeper rather than his own. It would be very nice for supporters of Cardiff to see Marshall having an easier game for once, rather than having to deal with the onslaught.
How do you judge a keeper? Similar to the way you judge a striker, yes? Goals conceded. We can talk about number of shots faced, shots faced per goal or whatever, but it all boils down to goals conceded, and on that, Brouc is ahead of everyone, except Morgan De Sanctis.
Bit of a patt statement that mate. How about number of times he's kept his side in the game? "Goals conceded" is only half the story and the one you're choosing to support your opinion.
Marshall once again had a great game between the sticks, however i have said this on a number of occasions in the past, his distribution is absolutely diabolical, this was proven against Norwich where he just booted the ball aimlessly upfield and give them possession straight back, Heaton was way ahead of Marshall in that particular area. But hats off he has probably gained us at least 3 points so far this season. MM cannot employ these tactics for much longer, we have to play with more flair going forward, Faz upfront on his own is not the answer, and i really feel sorry for him as he gets no decent service at all, why didnt Bellers start ? If we have to put up with more of these dire tactics i will be taking my Kindle to the next match and read Gone with the Wind, which would be more exciting than us at the moment. If we play against Swansea like we played against Norwich, we will get punished. Saying that they didnt look anything special against the Hammers, and watching big Sam laughing at Chico on MOTD 2 was outstanding. If someone could post that link i am sure you will all have a good laugh including our six fingered cousins down the road.
All the other keepers would have to have been bombasted with the shots our keeper has had to put up with, it's a bit easier if you only have to save half the number, would they hold up as well as Marshall has if having to save shot after shot.
Bellers will start next Sunday. He has been saving himself for that one. Trouble is the way we play he is an auxilliary full back as is Whitts. Therein lies our problem with a the back four and Pitbull rarely pushing forward and 2 creative players spending most of their time covering the flanks it leaves us with little to press up and do to others what they are doing to us. Even when KTC gets up the line he ends up crossing aimlessly as we have only Campbell in the box and he stands little chance against the giant centre backs in this league. If we eventually get Cornelius on the park he will have to be supported to make any use of his physique and ability to hold the ball up.
OS, Not quite half term yet. I was disappointed to see City play again second fiddle to an opposing team. Letting them run at us constantly just like Newcastle. Watching Sunderland yesterday getting into Newcastle made me so frustrated as City just allowed Newcastle to boss the game. However the problem is not the formation, just the lack of quality and above all pace in the team. swansea will pass around us for fun on sunday as will Arsenal and probably Man U. Until City get in a decent ball winner in midfield, and some pace at left back, and on either wing and use Campbell properly ie feed balls through the middle on the floor then City will continue to struggle. Whittingham is just not good enough, Snodgrass and Howson showed how much better they are than him. Cowie just runs around. Gunnarrson does not win enough balls, Taylor is too slow and Turner looked stretched. The old adage again applied, "you have to take your chances at this level." Mutch and Caulker should have buried their chances. And above all what frustrated me was the number of times City gave possession away; it was as thought they were afraid of the ball. Delighted by a point but depressed watching City play on the back foot again.
Nin Opin - I was referring to school half term (this week isn't it?), not season half term. The reference to school half term was to make it more meaningful to half the Jack posters who come on here.
Half term, they have only just gone back haven't they? Mine are now past school age so I didn't know and if I had I would have stayed in bed a bit longer before tackling the usual Monday morning rush hour!
You are right Sparks, you know what its like for most kids, they always seem to follow the good teams
Agree with this, and Kimbo looks out of touch. Right now I think Marshall, Caulker, Medel, and PO are the only Prem class players we have. Just not enough class.
Mutch is looking like a PL player. Defensively Turner and TC are doing well. Peter O im not so sure. Obvious ability but was very poor Saturday.
Mutch disappointed me against Norwich to be honest. Too often he seemed to be trying to do something that was obviously not going to work and I almost got the impression that he thinks he is a little better than he is. I like Turner, but think he is borderline Prem. He would be a great third defender. PO will get better with game time, but he may need better players around him to shine.
