just read that the smoggies cut all prices in half for tonights game and got over 28,000, highest attendance in 3 years, i know we have tried a few price cuts etc, but maybe we should try this to try and attract more fans to really get behind the team?

so in economics terms, they halved their income, added 40% to the gate and increased their over heads for a game by (say) 15%. now that makes sense!!!!!
 
The attendance at last game vs Bolton was 16,000, last night (even though it was on sky) was 28,000, an increase to the gate of 12,000 (75%) income will not have been halved in the slightest, machday sales on merchandise, food, drink etc, i reckon quite easilt similar profit as Bolton game.

then there is the small matter of adding 12,000 more voices to cheer your team, on and the very high possibility of more fans coming in future games, hence better support and higher income, so yeah you make an excellent point
 
It does make sense, a bit like airlines filling seats at cheaper prices. It would improve the atmosphere, as well as should increase revenue. The only down side is that season ticket holders will soon get pissed off, but to do it now and again is not a bad idea.
 
Your missing the point here forget the added income or lack of it, what it does do is get those fans back interested they <ok> wanted to go but would or could not afford it. i still think a great idea would be to give season pass holders the chance to take someone for a tenner or half price ect and in this way pass holders will advertise for the club and will not feel so aggrieved at price reductions if they are taking a family/friend to the game

Alas, tis thinking like this that holds the club and the city back.

I applaud the forward thinking shown by Middllesbruff and will take an interest in what their next home attendance is.

Boro v Bolton attendance 16 thow
Boro v Owls attendance 28.2 thow
Boro v Bristol Titties 20.6k

Some one do the maths. But I reckon Boro will have made money overall on the exercise after reducing the price for the Owls game.

Shame (for them) they got beat yesterday, but they did retain 4 thow of the cheapskates that turned up for the Owls game.

When most of us in Hull are feeling the pinch, maybe the club ought to take note? I suppose that after Tuesday night they might naturally expect to get more in for Hudds, Lester, TWS and the Owls. Maybe a few extra for Derby as well.

But Charlton Brum and Blackburn? Can't see any of them travelling in numbers.

More fans doesn't necessarily mean more getting behind the team. There was more there yesterday and a better away following but the atmosphere was awful. Only a few in the East Stand get behind the team, extra fans sat anywhere else will be glared and tutted at by the fans, of which we have too many, think supporting a team means turning up, sitting like dummies and politely applauding if we score, then leaving early as they don't want to be late for tea.

Some may do John. But i would rather see the KC with people filling it up for 80p or whatever discount is offered than seeing rows and rows of empty seats.

I am a fan of the idea of early buying to get cheap tickets. ie. Bristol City @ home on 20th April 2013 could be a meaningless game or be the game that we clinch automatic promotion. A ticket bought now should cost say £15 but closer to the time maybe go for over £40 subject to demand. A bit like an ebay bid. The system that Cardiff and Derby use is a good one imo.

I like the idea of buying tickets early for a cheaper price. Be interesting to see what our attendance will be tomorrow

Lol. 200 you say, that many coming up ? Top 3 away gates have been 1415 for Rotherham coc game, 977 Bolton fans and 947 Brighton fans. The rest pre-Burnley were less than 600. Pathetic.
