Sorry mate; my generation had the best drugs and the best music. Rock n Roll died when Bowie left Berlin.
Grime and Drill apparently. It's what the yoof listen to when they are not mugging or stabbing. Or maybe while they are mugging and stabbing.
Maybe Grunge? Certainly had mass appeal at the time and since if all the Nirvana t-shirt wearers are to be believed.
****ing good band Nirvana, tbf. A one off though, not having Grunge as any sort of scene or movement. Various imitators in unraveled knitwear and ripped jeans, my arse.
Not over here maybe but it was a full-on happening in the States. Sales of flannel shirts and Doc Martens went through the roof. You can usually spot a trend, it is latched onto by Hollywood just as it is over eg Reality Bites, Singles, Clerks etc.
"Wired For Sound" is Mick O Toons favourite ever song. He loves the video. Even bought himself a set of roller skates after seeing it.
I wouldn't go that far but their fame outshone their quality. Much better bands around from the same era - Stone Temple Pilots, Pearl Jam, Smashing Pumpkins come to mind. Same goes for original punk bands, there were much better ones than the Sex Pistols but Rotten, Vicious and Co will always be remembered for grabbing the headlines. I thought Cobain was a bit over-rated but Dave Grohl was and is an excellent drummer. Currently reading his biography, nobody seems to have a bad word to say about him in the book although I am sure Courtney Love will have a different opinion of him.
