Their reporter, that Kevin lad is a Mackem. He’s just trying to deflect from his stain of a club still being in the Turd division and not walking it (again) like some halfwits originally said.

We'd be more likely to get Brendan Foster anyways.

Tbh he's right up Ashleys street and if we lose rafa I think he'd say no cos Celtic offer more with less risk.

Everyone is realising Ashley is a horrible owner to work for

I'd be surprised if we could get anyone even remotely good enough.

Aye but with Rafa on £6m a year the fat man could easily offer Brendan half that and it will probably be a pay rise to him.

Brendan Rodgers has very little money to use at Celtic so he would be used to that.
Why though, would he give up fighting for titles just to have a relegation battle?

Ok, so Scotland is a bit of a pub league, but it's still high-profile at Celtic and an actual, repeated chance of winning things.

That does seem to have an air of inevitability about it.

Only plus I can see going for Rogers is that our 0% chance of getting Tierney increases to 2.5%

If we ended up with Rogers then at least the style of football would improve.... hopefully.
Also, Benetiz, Rogers, the next obvious step would be Klopp!

I don't think so, that would be against recent history. Mike Ashley has proven that he spends the most comparative to incoming revenue when we are relegated.

We don't even have to spend much on transfers, retaining the players we have has ensured we were a relative financial superpower in the championship on both occasions. I don't see that changing unless they distribute the tv wealth more evenly.

When (not if) we go down again, I expect us to be competitive almost immediately, and ironically it's thanks to Ashley we can take a relegation in our stride without being in immediate danger of doing a Sunderland.

We will yoyo for the rest of his days.

I agree we'll be competitive in the Championship but it will take a bigger effort to come back up IMHO. Each time we have been relegated in recent years the squad had very saleable assets and some proper quality in the squad, both to sell and retain. Over time the squad has weakened - first relegation loads of quality, second relegation a fair bit of quality, and it is just a lot poorer all round these days.

If we get relegated we should go straight back up considering we have the same team ....
