If AVB had any input into our signing Sigurdsson, then I fully expect him to get the nod ahead of VDV.
We've heard reports of VDV leaving so an attacking midfield role being AVB's first signing could be the end for the Dutchman unless he plans to play both in the attacking midfield role. A 4 3 3 formation with two fast wide men and a new goalscorer could make us a force to be reckoned with next season. AVB likes to play attacking full backs and we have the men to do that. It all depends on Modric now.
The reports of Sylvie wanting Rafa to move back to Germany, and putting pressure on him to do so, are complete crap. Rafa will only leave if we want him to leave, which I can't see, considering Oscar now looks very unlikely. The only stumbling block could be that AVB tells him he isn't a guaranteed starter, and he may reconsider then, but it's unlikely.
So it's agreed, it is because we offered higher wages and he was a Swansea reject anyway. However, what's Rodgers got the right to feel angry about? An agreement was in place for him to join Swansea, not with Brendan Rodgers at whichever club he happened to be managing that week. He tried to screw over Swansea, and it backfired.
Seems to be a consistent thread developing: players and management saying the right things at the right time. Pleasant change that bodes well!!!
