BB: For sure. I've been saying for a while now that the the only question in January is how much. If he gets some goals then, heaps. If he's off form then we might struggle to get back what we paid. Either way heads WILL roll if the money is not spent on BOTH Cisse & Pav. Bruce has a plan for sure but if he takes to f***** long to exacute it, he'll be the one getting the chop.
IMO we need to knock all of this on the head (although who knows maybe the club already have). From the outside looking in it does seem that Gyan wont be the sort of player to spend 5 or 6 years at one place and he is undoubtedly ambitious. If one of the big boys come knocking then I am sure he will be interested, as would most people! To be honest I would be looking to get in his ear and ask him for a solid year at Sunderland, with him knuckling down to get fit and chipping in with goals and a solid top half finish. Tell him we will re-assess in the summer and if a move comes up where we get at least what we paid for him (surely we cannot take less than this with over 2 yrs left on his contract) we will consider it. This will also allow us time to use such cash to get in a replacement who we have scouted thoroughly and know would be interested in joining us. Saying that I am still not fully convinced by him. He obviously has bundles of talent (see the last World Cup, the goal against England, his debut goal at Wigan) he just seems to go missing a bit much. Initially I thought it was because alongisde Bent they were the same player making the same runs, but since he left he seems to drop deeper and deeper to get the ball. It may be poor service but I think we could replace him with better if we get our money back (hopefully more) for him.
Gyan is a luxury a club like ours cannot afford. If he were at a top 4 club he wouldn't be able to go missing like he does with us. We need players who will work their arse off for the club and the fans and not keep one eye on possible transfers like Gyan seems to be doing. Not bothered if he left to be honest, but just hope we get someone in good in Jan
I said something similar the other day BB. I hope that he doesnt go today, as that will leave us totally up the creek, without paddles and a boat IMO. It would be worse than the Bent sale and I dont see how the club could sell this one as a good deal in any shape or form. If Gyan had gone a week ago and the money used to bring Cisse, Pav or AN Other PLUS Bendtner, then I wouldnt have any problems. To allow him to go today, even for 20m, would be the shortest suicide note written in football history. We cant survive between now and Christmas with an on loan Bendtner and 2 completely unproven and totally not ready new boys. It would be absolute madness. If he goes in January for the same amount and we bring in 1 or 2 replacements )if thats buying Bendtner outright and this lad Cisse, then thats fine. I just dont see Bruce or Quinn (2 footballing men who would know the dangers of selling Gyan today) allowing this to happen. Would they?
I never thought the club would be crazy enough to agree to a game at the same time as the Great North Run is taking place but they have...So nowt would surprise me at present...
Got to say I cant see why that game couldnt kick off at 3pm? The club need to explain that one to me as well. RAW - I dont see how Quinn and Bruce coulod even begin to sell us all this if it were true. It would be one of the worst decisions in football for a long time which is why I cant see 2 big footballing men make it. They would be condemning us to a torid 4 months up to January IMO and that would have long term implications for everyone at the club.
I honestly don't think it will happen, unless there are extreme circumstances that we don't know about...As for the kick-off time for the Stoke game, it should have been at 3 or even 4pm...It is utter madness and a public relations gaff of epic proportions to have it when the regions biggest charity event is taking place, not to mention the difficulties for fans travelling from the north.
Doesnt the loan window open again next week? if it does you never know, but i cant see him going before January, or i hope he doesnt.
If he goes then he goes but, we should push for a permanent deal and on 13mil plus lets stop being a pushover for other clubs and grow a pair. Not sure what Gyans problem is but, it smacks of Bent last year. If he wants more money (reported somewhere) then sit down and tell him not until next season if he scores 15 to 20 goals this season.
But does that not mean for Championship clubs only? The only signings we could make now are from out of contract players as far as I am led to believe? Is that wrong? Only emergency goal keeper loans are available until January for us as a club now and we can only loan to Championship clubs outside the window? Or can we loan out and loan in players? I have to say it’s easier to figure quantum mathematics than the UEFA and FIFA rules these days. Lol
Honestly i dont know i was just reading the ranger article on sky sports and they mentioned the loan window opened again next week, so it may very well be for championship clubs only to bring in players.
I'm sure its loans to Championship clubs only Steve but apparently as the Turkish window is still open (dont ask), Gyan could still sign permanently for them today. Bugger I thought the specualtion would be over by now and we could concentrate on the matchs ahead.
In England, clubs from the Football League Championship to the Football Conference can loan in players from 8 September to 25 November and also from 8 February until 24 March. there you go.
I said it on Transfer DDay, and I stick by it - I think Gyan will go very soon. He hasn't delivered for us and I think his head is elsewhere at the minute - body language on the pitch not good.
http://www.skysports.com/story/0,,11661_7152158,00.html Says he's going nowhere (unless we accept a bid for him - which, hopefully, we won't!!) We'll see eh!
