Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan reiterates love for Sunderland

Asamoah Gyan saluting Sunderland fans after a home victory
Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan has reiterated his love for English side Sunderland and described the fans at Stadium of Light as “amazing”.

Gyan who joined the Black Cats last summer has been a hit in first season and was heavily linked with Tottenham Hotspur and Stoke City last week.

Club chairman Neil Quinn has debunked media reports that the 2010 Fifa World Cup star will be sold.

Gyan finished as the club’s topscorer last term with 10 goals and four assists from 20 league appearances.

“Yeh, they gave me a warm reception. It was amazing. Since I go to Sunderland especially the fans, anything I do they appreciate it. They know how hardworking I am. Even if we lose, you keep on working hard,” Gyan told GHANAsoccernet.com.

Sunderland have promised to recruit a strike partner for the Ghana international who struggled to cope as a lone man upfront after Darren Bent was sold to Aston Villa.

I hope he is here next season and for many seasons to come.

I see no reason for him to leave. I understand why Henderson and Bent left, there were good reasons, but Gyan is a top-class player and, more than that, he's our only striker! (apaert from Campbell)

Bent might get the goals but Gyan's attitude has so far been excellent. He's been linked with Bayern Munich and Spurs and yet keeps his head down. No complaining. The man just loves his football! Legend :D

It was this paragraph that I found amusing. :)

He didn't really say anything about Sunderland as a club, or even about loving anyone.

All he said was that the fans appreciate everything he does. In reference to 'amazing', it seems as if he was talking about a particular occasion in which he got a warm reception.

The media makes me laugh sometimes.

Spot on marra, it was the England V Ghana match a couple of months back, there was a large contingent of Sunderland fans attending, he made a beeline for them to say thanks. ****ing Press, any one could do that job.

Yes, with the North East media so far up the skunks arses, it probably will be a shock for you to read something positive regarding SAFC.

as proven with bent and henderson if we get offered big money for him, we would sell, just hope we don't get offered big money then

But with Bent and Henderson we had replacements (in Bent's case it seemed as if we did at the time), but as I said before, Gyan is a necessity at the moment.

Just saying the truth, and you know it's the truth.

Don't want y'all to get your hopes up due to **** media stories. Gotta stay grounded in these times.

I'm sorry I to say this, but without a shadow of a doubt, if a big bid comes in for Gyan, he will be gone. The club has shown that they are prepared to sell anyone for the right price, so I can't see Gyan being the exception to the rule.
