I think you've just made a VERY good point, mate. You've got a player who told the Ghanaian press SAFC seemed a bit disorganized and he wasn't very happy here. He's chasing hoofballs all day without any support from a midfield who didn't know where the opponent's half was. So Sunderland don't want to sell him but weigh up the finances (as you've said). It gives both sides a very profitable year's breathing space, doesn't it? The only unhappy person is SB.
