Given last nights performance against England, & considering Carroll cost £35 mill, how much has Gyan got to be worth, must be a fortune, for me Andy Carroll is nowhere near the quality of Gyan

I think that most would agree that Carroll was vastly overpriced though, shieldscat. And I think it's probably safe to say that Gyan was "cheap". As to comparing the two? Chalk and cheese, I think. Would be interesting to see them paired up!

no doubt some clubs will come sniffing in the summer, never know lfc may be one of them, dont forget every player has their price, wonder what snq's reaction would be if they offered another 35million.

we all know we wont sign Caroll but maybe a Caroll type is what Bruce meant.

Not for me. Personally, I don't rate him at all. His £35mill price tag came from a vastly overflated, panic buy DD market. We need to be looking at players from abroad, or established premierleague hitmen. Not half season "heroes".

I feel Gyan is our so called 'big man' upfront, surely we need a Suarez type player to play behind him and link midfield with attack.

However I can see why Bruce would want a 'big man' in the Carroll mould because it would give us some variety and dare I say it but a chance of scoring from a set piece!

Forget the 35 mil, that was a one off, is he a good premier striker, many think yes including the England manager, Liverpool manager and many more. Is he a handful for defenders who makes chances, yes, can he score, yes, is he still young, yes, would he be a great addition to our squad, yes. It will never but I think if you take away his Newcastle past many would love him, his past would not bother me.

Still, for me, not proven enough. I'll happily discuss this with you at the end of next season? If he's banging them in every week for fun, I might concede, but right now, not for me.

Ooooh, I could have that conversation around the same time as I have my conversation with billysmarts about Hendersons progress.

Thats a date then, years since I have had one of those

but wellbeck is the next big thing, as he is proven so much more than carroll?
now that is a strikeforce, gyan/ carroll, with wellbeck and campbell.

Are you being serious or sarcastic?
ftmwn, note to one's self, i was being sarcastic.
of couse wellbeck is no more proven than carroll. carroll has more goals in the prem. carroll has been subject of a 35mill transfer.
im not going to dismiss carrol as a player as he has a great future ahead off him.
but i was serious when i stated about gyan/carroll/ wellbeck and campbell as being a helluva strikeforce.
gotta feeling carroll and wellbecks future are gonna cross many times in an england shirt

Carroll has the potential to be a good player and that is what Liverpool paid us 35 mil for and yes they were done but willing to pay it.

Gyan is a very good player and like Carroll can only get better.

That goal last night was a beauty and you have a gem on your hands.

Carroll is the most over priced play ever IMO, good player I just can't see him hitting the heights everybody is expecting from him. He was poor last night. He was poor on his England debut. And for liverpool the other day I thought he was very poor. Obviously not match fit just yet but still.

To be fair mate he is coming back from injury, when he is back to 100% I can see him terrorising any defence.
The goal he scored was very well taken, he wasn't getting much service before that.
Even when he was still a SKunk I said he could turn into a world class striker if he gets his stupid head together.
And! He would get the England shirt before Bent IMHO.
