Dunno mate, you could right. Whichever way was though there`s no argument and certainly not the insult the press seem to be trying to make of it.
It wasn't so much what he said, as how he said it. I guess with him speaking what his to him, a foreign language, something can be lost both in translation (from his own interpretation of English), and context. I watched him say it and immediately posted something along the lines of, ffs, somebody keep him away from the microphones. It just didn't come across well. Just as Ross McCormacks comments about blowing us away last night would have been incendiary in the Sunderland changing rooms, so would Gus's comments about the pitch at Bradford as well. Surely it's just common sense not to galvanise the opposition just before the whistle blows!
remember the 1st goal hull scored against us on boxing day, how bad would that be to happen again on a **** football pitch!!
At the end of the day the FA Cup is all about the 'magic' and the 'David vs Goliath' so I've been told so much over the past few days. You play the cards you've been dealt and get on with it. LVG moaned about a pitch and got crucified for it, Poyet should probably take a lesson from that and keep his gob shut. If you're concerned about **** pitches and such issues then you should probably just do what Newcastle do and not bother with the FA Cup because sooner or later you're gonna have to play on an appalling pitch.
I'm just referring to what he said immediately after the Fulham game. If he was re-iterating what someone else said, still doesn't negate the fact be shouldnt have said it. Best advice to Gus is just to keep shtum!
I can;t see a single reason why he shouldn't have said it. Ther isn't one! It doesn;t give Bradford their "team talk" so to speak when it is a comment that has already been attributed to the Bradford Boss! He can;t say "Look Lads - Gus Poyet is saying what I said so let's go and show them it's bullshit" Can he? Unless he wants to be known as a bullshitter by his own players!
I'd hazard a guess that Stamford Bridge is in better nick than Bradford's ground anyhow, didn't do Chelsea any good did it?
It's not winning/losing which concerns me, it's risk to players. Their last home game only just went ahead. They've got a home game to MK Dons before we go there. Injuries of a postponement would be a disaster to us. I don't blame Gus for slipping an invitation in there, what's the harm? It's not like he's refusing to play the tie. Folk have gone way over the top with their reaction to this.
I think we all know Mourinho or LVG would be pulled apart for making the same suggestions. We sold out in the FA Cup in 2000 when we ditched it in favour of the World Club Cup, it was pathetic by MUFC and I hate that we did that. To keep the FA Cup alive, the top players must continue to cast aside their conditioning to only play on perfect surfaces and get stuck in, the old fashioned way, as the FA Cup is intended. I didn't see the Poyet interview, only read it, I guess in context he could have been saying it with a cheeky grin on his face, if he was being serious then I'd be disappointed in him for disregarding a bit of what the FA Cup is about.
