We have got 5 points, mate. We had 10,000 fans watching our biggest game of the season. We have got to act now.
Look at what Sunderland have done.

Sunderland will go down now, just look. And We only had 6 points this time last season and that season didn't turn out badly at all.

Di Canio is available... And he's a CAFC cult hero...

Poyet left a **** on the changing room floor at Brighton... There are eleven ****s in The Valley changing room...

Vol is expressing his opinion, yet he is classed as embittered and ridiculous. I, too, believe that CP is nearing the end of his tenure, but I wouldn't class myself as embittered and ridiculous. I just don't want to watch too many matches like Saturday, especially when it could have been avoided with better management.

I've wanted Di Canio for ages and said if Powell ever left Di Canio would be one of the first names I'd enquire about, but how he basically self destructed at sunderland has shown me he has gone up far too quickly. Sadly my 1st choice is doing well at Inverness, no idea why he'd want to come to us but would Love Terry Butcher as our gaffa... if Powell were to leave

Hasn't Terry Butcher been sacked from every managerial job he's had? (Could be wrong, honest question). Never seen anything from him of note as a manager, though seems to currently be doing ok.

I would employ De Canio, at least it will be fun and the ride may be bumpy, but if your going down, I say go down swinging....

Don't know why I liked him, always rated Mr butcher, if a man who played like he did cant get the players passionate for the game then no one will.

Butcher has done a terrific job at Inverness.

Di Canio - no thanks. I simply don't rate him as a manager, and I think he's left Sunderland in a huge mess from which they'll take a while to recover. Arguing that we should do what the Sunderland directors have done ignores the fact that we are in a better position that Sunderland are, and that Powell at Charlton is a different situation from Di Canio at Sunderland.

Ted, in the interests of accuracy I should point out that at this stage last season (after 7 games) we had 8 points, not 6.

I couldn't give a monkeys what Sunderland do. They're fast becoming a laughing stock. 6 managers in 2 years, is that really what you want for our club...?

We may have 5 points but we were unlucky against Watford to not take home all three points, and even though we were **** against Millwall we were still no worse than them and well worth a point.

You wanna chill out a bit mate. There's a hell of a lot of football to be played. If come Jan things are still following the same pattern then tough decisions need to be made.

    Under Powell...:

1st full season... League One Championship at a canter.
2nd season... 9th just outside the playoffs, huge over achievement.
    3rd season... ?

Give the fella a break. Two cracking seasons and we have an indifferent start to his 3rd season in charge, and you immediately call for his head... for me that's ludicrous.

After the performance on Saturday, I'm surprised more people are not calling for CP's head on a block.

Vol does not have the power to change the manager, but that is no reason not to moan and be angry about the Millwall match.

There seems to be some protective shroud over CP, yet he has hardly earned it this season.

It is too early to sack CP, I agree, but criticism needs to come before the rot sets in.

Ponders, I admire Vol's passion and I have absolutely no problem whatsoever with him or anyone else criticising the gaffer.

As for Powell having a "Protective Shroud" draped round him due to his association with us as a player... I personally couldn't give a flying toss about his history for us on the pitch. For me it's simply irrelevant all the time he's our manager.

Presently all I'm concerned about is what he does in the dugout for my beloved club.

As and when he leaves (or is sacked) I shall go back to remembering him as an all time Charlton legend.

Don't get me wrong, I'm as livid as the next Charlton fan after the utter garbage served up on Saturday, but for me it's a little too early to panic.

According to this mornings paper, Gus Poyet has started talks with SunderLand chairman Ellis Short about taking over as manager of the Premier League club

Since starting this post, I have discovered that Poyet and Tony Jiminez are no longer on speaking terms, so this was always a non runner.

It all boils down to to the individual choice each fan has to make as to whether we think that performance v Millwall was unacceptable. I was at the Wycombe game under Les Reed- unacceptable, the Pardew game v Sheffield Utd - unacceptable, and the Swindon game under Parky- unacceptable. I was also at Powell's nadir last Saturday and that was EVERY BIT AS BAD as the other games I mentioned. We then have to ask ourselves, " was that performance Powell's fault?". My answer is a resounding "Yes". He gave it the big one before the game in the Standard about what it meant to the players, I then saw 11 cowards out on the pitch who couldn't even do the basics, and a guy standing on the touch line like an exhibit at Madame Tussards (although funnily enough, he can move quick enough to wave when people are singing his name....). I came out of that game spitting mad with Powell and that team for the 95 min of utter chuff they served up in OUR name.

And for those pro Powell martinets, let me remind you what Deptford's finest sang en masse last week

    "We laugh at Charlton fans"

This Club has existed for over 100 years and will hopefully always be bigger than a blind, love at all costs personality cult around a human being and football manager who is just as flawed as the rest of us. I worry that if we are bottom with 6 points at Xmas, you will still get the same people on here & the other sites brandishing their Ocado lite consciences whilst the good Captain crunches our ship well and truly into the icebergs.

Les Reed Wycombe is by far the worse performance I have ever seen from a Charlton side and I was there when Leeds spanked us 6-1 when Viduka scored a hat trick (now that was an under rated player).

My view is don't want to panic too quickly, because then we do like we did before and get the wrong man (Les Reed) and then have to look for another gaffa a month later. I rate Powell BUT if the right man does become available I can understand why we'd say goodbye to Chris.

To be fair, we've been laughing at you for a long long time.
Ever since you left Greenwich in 1927(ish), changed your kit to blue and moved to Catford. It only lasted one season before you sulked back to Greenwich with your tails between your legs and reverted back to a red kit, but the damage had been done <ok>

Moved back to uni before this weekend so sadly only had Saturday on the tele in the pub, but yeah that was pretty poor as it goes. Like I said, I think Powell can turn it around, but if the right guy does come in (and as you know I never thought Poyet was) I fully understand letting him go.

To be equally fair, the only footballing laugh I have had this season is when seeing Millwall's attendances.
