Thank **** my dad brought me up to be a leeds fan and not Spuds thats all i have to say on the subject.
'Yid' is the Hebrew word for Jew. Hence the word Yiddish. Nothing racist here. That is what the Spurs fans refer to themselves as, although the club are apparently trying to stop it. Using the term as a pejorative is offensive to many and should be avoided in the same way as other terms aren't used to describe groups of ethnic or cultural diversity are not appropriate in a multicultural society.
Brizzy, it's like a lot of things it is context that may or may not make the use of a word offensive. Millwall as used to describe an area of London/ Middlesex is quite innocuous but used as a term in football it is highly offensive and inappropriate.'Yid' is the Hebrew word for Jew.
