These "hypothetical" contracts are actual contracts, signed and agreed upon a good while ago. And there's no reason FIFA couldn't stipulate that while Barcelona may sign players in this window, they may not contract to sign players in later windows.

FIFA's only obligation is to not conflict with the law, and the only source you need is this: https://www.princeton.edu/~achaney/tmve/wiki100k/docs/Pacta_sunt_servanda.html

I doubt they have to show they have reasonable grounds for the initial appeal back to FIFA. CAS may be a different matter but from my experience of the legal system they will at the very least have the right to apply for permission to appeal to CAS. They also won't necessarily be arguing they haven't broken the rule. Perhaps their argument will be that the rule itself is unjust and unenforceable for some reason. Perhaps they'll simply argue the sentence is too harsh.

Well FIFA make the rules and they've decided to suspend the punishment so apparently whatever arbitrary conditions they require have been met. Doesn't mean I have to like it though!

You should see him in Noah! Basically, exactly the same as that, but with long hair.

I think you're overrating his acting ability.

I'm probably more appalled at the advert. The fact that anyone would want to bet on anything in any case.

No, I hadn't heard of the term either. I do remember thinking that the slope [ie, the lean] of the bridge was in the other direction to where they were pointing though, but I concluded that it was camera distortion that was giving me the incorrect view. Turns out they were attempting a pathetic joke. At least Top Gear can be said to be educational as well as comedic.

Short for slope-eye, a derogatory term for Asians...probably more common in North America.

Anyone see about Numbers Stations on the BBC? I've been reading up and listening to some, and they're genuinely quite creepy. Very mysterious.

I suddenly have an interest in them for very little reason. Anyone else?

I loathe Clarkson....he has been allowed to grow into a monster who thinks he can say and do what he likes.
