You can tell he learned his trade in Brazil because of how much better he is when he gets time on the ball. When we played against teams with no defensive tactics other than "SPRINT TOWARDS THE GUY IN POSSESSION" he struggled because he's not a particularly nimble player, however most of the time he was able to take a second longer and do something with the ball. As most Premier League teams actually defend tactically rather than trying to murder whoever has the ball he should be fine, provided his game adapts to better defending tactically. He'll certainly not have to worry about untalented but aggressive defenders nearly as often.
I hate it with a passion, there was a post on there yesterday morning is it true that arsenal are playing at st marys todat?? and don't get me started on the guly criticisms - relegation is certain now guly has signed up apparently!
well ive said it before and will say again ,think he is the one player in the squad with premiership qualities ,hope he will be joined with a few others who could be ,for me this is as good as as new signing as was worried at end of season the haters may have got their way and he would go else where,
Clearly a controversial/popular topic - Guly is trending on Twitter: please log in to view this image
Guly does get himself involved in defence...admittedly more in the area in deadball situations. Towards the end of the season he did some last ditch clearing. Adkins said shortly after coming here that Guly had to involve himself in defence because we lacked height.
I was very happy with this when I found out, he has been sooo important to are success over the last few years, yet some people seem blinkered in thinking he's rubbish.. I just don't see it, after watching Saints Player when they went through each month, it really showed how good he was. Not only did he score some crucial goals, i.e Millwall at Home. But he provided a lot of goals, what about that incredible assist for De Ridder against Reading!! Admittedly he was poor that game, like everyone else who played but he produces something out of nothing. Not a lot of players can do that. The facebook abuse is shameful and embarrassing, I just hope the majority are just attention seeking or other fans trying to wind up the Saints fans. However, Well Done Guly, I look forward to a couple more seasons of are Brazilian genius.
