Why should that make any difference? He made a big mistake and appears to be aware of how stupid he was, it could have been a lot worse had he killed or injured someone, so the punishment should match that, not that he is public figure which is irrelavant. I just hope that the event has made others realise what is so wrong about driving under the influence of drink or drugs.
I agree that it shouldn't but in my experience courts often make more of an example of people in the public eye.
Roman Polanski got a few months of psychiatric evaluation for raping a 13 year old girl, I think it's the opposite if I'm honest.
Here we go again , the old Daily Mail lovely garden hedges are on here ready to battle with the sandal clad defenders of the free World , I am with the sandals on this one , he made a mistake , we all do , the law will take care of the rest , he has been put before a judge and the sentence has been given , and get this I think Guly is one crap footballer but please people dont use this an excuse to belt the guy , they are different things altogether . He made a dreadful error and he has been brought before the courts , what else do you what to happen to him ?
Reduced by THREE months to NINE months. Crikey, how many people did not see that or were some of you being sheep..?
From The Independent: However, it has not all been positive for Southampton this week as Guly do Prado hit the headlines for the wrong reasons. The 30-year-old was banned from the road for a year and fined £2,500 after admitting drink-driving in the early hours of August 27 in Southampton. Asked what action has been taken against do Prado, Adkins said: "That has all been dealt with in-house. "We obviously view the matter very strongly. We've got a high level of discipline here at Southampton. "The players are all well aware of the role model status that they have and obviously we've dealt with that in-house straight away. "He understands and all the players are well aware and Guly knows not to do anything detrimental to the club, the team or yourself. "You face the consequences of your actions and he certainly felt the consequences of his action within the football club, likewise in the public domain."
haha, I realised it had changed after Radio Solent then corrected themselves about an hour after, I chose to leave it and let people work it out for themselves..
Wonder if he'll miss out on Saturday as a result of being convicted>? More likely the club have whacked him with a big fine!
Nigel said he'd already been punished, so probably was a huge fine (hopefully passed to Saints Foundation).
