10 years ago it seemed inevitable that Vettel would break all the records. Fortunes can change quickly
True but Max has more talent than Vettel. If RBR drop off the best team would want him and he would deliver.
The best team usually sticks with the lead driver they've got. If RBR decline, he would probably end up with the 2nd or 3rd best team, hoping they make the step up. The same position Leclerc and Russell are in now and where Max was in 2020
the only difference is that it wasn't the best team that got vettel, it was the richest one and they din't hand him the best car. If ferrari had the best car vettel would be the 7 time champion. vettel went from 4 time champion to.... 4 time champion lol. he was still quick in parts but ferrari were miles off the peak merc and even tried cheating to catch up. if that ferrari really was a s quick as the merc i am sure vettel would have got 1 or 2. they tiried everything but came up short every time. Hamilton went from 1 title to 7 by getting in the best car and being the best driver in the team. He saw off all comers for 6 years which is an achievement in itself. He's left two titles behind him in rosberg and the cheated one. Thats epic consistency and delivering the special laps each time they were needed. If verstappen can see the cliff coming and jump to the next dominant car he can be a 7 time champ. i doubt he will make it that far.
Vettel began to panic. The crash when he took his team mate out at the start and ended up pointing the wrong way was a classic example, as was his triple 'f' in Germany and his off road excursion in Canada. All panic. Baku sideways bump showed how he lost the plot. Vettel had the opportunity in the Ferrari, albeit Ferrari may not have been compliant in those years, no one knew that at the time.
The clown show rolls on. Ferrari have officially managed to break their entire seasons allowance of control electronics by the end of the first race https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/formula1/64965903
Bloody hell . so that’s a grid penalty for this race , and no more issues without further penalties for the entire season ? Am I right or am I misunderstanding this ?
I read it as, they used 2 ECU's, the entire season's allowance for Le Clerc. Assuming the new one is not defective, suggests maybe one more penalty for this in the season, which I assume they would do with another penalty to minimise the impact. If so, not necessarily the end of the world. The worry really is Max was never under pressure so how much more is there in the RBR tank?
