Look at the crash Webber had when he went airborne over Kovalainen, and that was without the halo, he was back in the car straight away
Well of course Brundle was straight back in the spare car after flipping over in Australia, although the he did just circulate slowly until the adrenaline wore off, and then stopped and got out.
I think the one I remember most is Warwick(?) having a massive smash, and then running down the pitlane to get in the spare.
Medical car did an amazing job, very brave. Good job it was first lap as don't think marshals have fireproof kit
When you watch the race start in Grosjean’s car I don’t understand why he went so far right to end up where he did
I think both have done it, Warwick did it at Monza in 1990, but it's not the crash I remember, so I may be remembering Brundles crash and Warwick running to the spare.
Looks like he went righ a bit to position himself away from cars in front. What he didn't realise was kvyat was on his right. He clipped his rear wheel on kvyat and that turned him sharp right. Looks like survival cell speared barrier and momentum snapped pu off
Pu looks OK! Or maybe just gearbox. Could have been so much worse. Thank god they continue to improve safety. Hope roman has a speedy recovery.
Yeah if that happened in a 2017 car, it's a fatality. No question the halo saved his life. The worst crash I've ever seen. They'll have to investigate how he's pierced the barriers like that. Even when we were having the debate about introducing the halo, i never remember "what if a car goes straight through the armco" being a mentioned scenario. Apparently, he's got minor burns and broken ribs. Good news considering, but his season is over. No idea what he was doing cutting across the from of the Alpha Tauri like that.
