Whilst highly critical of Guidolin I remain undecided. Any manager needs some time time and we've had to cope with the huge loss of Williams and Ayew. You can't just ignore that fact. We've broken our transfer record with Baston and we've been unlucky to lose him through injury so far. That's not Guidolin's fault.
However, I'm worried. Tactically, Guidolin seems terrified of losing and reacts when we go behind (as we usually do) as opposed to being brave and acting positively when things aren't working, as they clearly weren't today. We were lucky v Chelsea and lucky today not to lose by 4 or 5, maybe more. As others have said, Guidolin doesn't seem to have the support of his players, with recent examples of players being unhappy at what's happening. Their whole demeanor seems rather head-dropping right now, at least to me.
So yes, undecided. Now we have Baston back Guidolin is running out of excuses and if things don't change soon I may well alter my view.

Should never have kept him on. We'd have gone down if it wasnt for Curtis last season.
What Trunds, Kiff, myself and a few others feared has become true in the first handful of games.
He's not good enough for us and simply put, we are going down with him in charge.

Personally, I think at the rate we're going, we could be going down with anyone in charge. He's tried 3 or 4 different systems this season already and the players just don't seem up to the task. The board seem hell-bent on not giving away the full reigns to a manager, and that's probably the reason why Guidolin was hired ahead of all of the other big names touted for the manager position - because he was the only one happy to be first team coach only and let the board deal with the new signings.
With new owners in, it would be interesting to see what would happen if Huw Jenkins was given his P45 and what Guidolin could do if he was actually given full control of the squad and any additions or departures. He showed with Udinese that he can take a bad team to the top end of a top division and performing in Europe over a sustained period of time, but I feel that with Huw Jenkins in control he just doesn't seem to want to give too much away to the gaffer (maybe because he's scared of what happened under Laudrup - a clique of players causing trouble and unrest in the dressing room).
Either way, I think the actual problem with our club at the moment is more than just the manager/coach. We had a number of big names on our list prior to Guidolin's surprise appointment - is it any surprise that they all turned us down and we ended up giving an 'under-the-radar' but nevertheless experienced manager a simple 'Head Coach' position. I'm having severe doubts about the way the club is being run, and obviously because the results aren't going our way, Guidolin is taking the brunt of the flack at the moment - no doubt he deserves some, but I just feel it's bigger than that.
Anyway...could be worse. We could be West Ham or Stoke who are getting spanked every week at the moment. At least our scorelines are competitive.

I agree with Kiff, it's far too early for me, so I am one of the undecided, and I must admit the players deserve a bloody kick up the arse, for the way they played again today, Franco has stated post match that the attitude of his players are not good, and I agree, why they are not putting forward their best game, one can only speculate, but something seems not right at the minute, there is no spirit to our game play, we look like just a collection of players, no team play, but we had this issue under Monk, and under Laudrup towards the end, so i'm beginning to think there are some serious ego issues, how can we be so bad at defending set pieces for so long? Why are we so incompetent at getting decent ball into the box?
The players are to blame for much of this, but I must say that Franco has issues with his substitutions, and tactics, not sure our players are buying into 3 at the back either, looks like it is going to be a long and painful season ahead...........

Wake up smell the coffee Guildo is not a premiership manager, How long have we to wait until it sinks in that he is taking us down...We are not even championship standard was one comment i heard and i agree totally.....Action is needed now starting with putting Curtis in charge until we find a proper manager and not allowing Jenkins to choose the next manager....New chairman needed

I have to disagree phil, when does it become to late, Guidolin has had 8 months to put what he wants into practice and he has failed miserably. Of the side that started Sunday, Guidolin had 10 of them with him last year and if he cant get them playing after having them for 8 months there is no chance. Whatever our views I think Guidoliin is on borrowed time. Performances matter in the next few games even if we lose, as is likely.
But I just wonder whether Roof has changed his views? Forever defending Guidolin even when we were putting in poor performances and rounding on those of us were critical (abusively at times), accusing us of not being true fans. I really do wonder whether he still has that opinion? This is a forum for all views, after all. He's disappeared for some reason.

In all fairness to roof at the time when he was defending Guidolin he did successfully keep us in the premier league despite all the rubbish surrounding us at that time. I also wonder what his views are now and hope he returns to the forum. I think we're all genuine fans regardless of views just some are more critical than others.
This situation we're in at the moment is very concerning and I think all us fans deserve answers as to what is actually going on. What is the exact role of Huw Jenkins?
Who's accountable for signing and selling players?
Is the team selection purely the decision of Guidolin and his coaching staff?
Why do some players seem discontented with Guidolin?
What contingency plans are in place if things don't work out with Guidolin?

To be honest Swan for me it has gone well beyond that for me, he has had 8 months in charge of the majority of our players and has moved us backwards. There is only one solution and that is for him to be sacked ASAP, we need to bring someone in who can motivate the players and be able to put them on a pitch with some sort of game plane with a view to winning a game, not just hanging on. To much talking and to many excuses are being done/made and I don't want to hear them anymore. What we are being served up is just not good enough and there is no way he can improve it, time has shown that.
My only concern would be who do we replace him with, we all know the pathetic way we dealt with the sacking of Monk and finding his replacement. I would be quite happy for Curtis to go back in short term whilst we find his replacement quickly, I would like to think the board have already started identifying replacements having seen our start and how they failed to find one last year. It is time to act before it is to late, there is no way we can continue like this, if we don't ct then it is 100% back to the championship.

As I mentioned on the Southampton Match Thread, arguably Guido deserved to be appointed on a permanent basis given our points return under him last season (I know that there is a strong case for allocating a proportion of those points to Curt).
With the opportunity of bringing in his own players and a full pre-season to prepare, I thought it reasonable to expect us to kick on and challenge for a Top 8 - 10 spot.
However, we have regressed. The formation against Chelsea was an abject failure & the performance against Southampton was dreadful - I really am sick to death of his Rorke's Drift style of play. If we are going to lose, let's go down bloody fighting .....
Additionally, and rightly or wrongly, it seems that he has lost - or is losing - the dressing room. Monk (& Williams?) can't be blamed this time around.
The truth of the matter is that 8 months ago no one on this board - or the entire fan base - wanted Guidolin in charge - for one we had never heard of the guy.
Yes - he played a part in keeping us up last season. However, virtually every team is stronger this year (yep - even Stoke who are bottom) yet we (at best) have stood still.
As such, the question to be asked has to be "is Guidolin equipped to keep us in the PL come the end of the season?" On balance, I would suggest not.
Therefore, it would appear that a decision has to be made. Having bought 68% of the Club at a price based undoubtedly on PL status & PL revenues, I suspect that a decision will have to be taken sooner rather than later by the Yanks if they are going to protect their investment.
Who could replace Guidolin?
Well, with 6 or so Spanish speakers, players who will be key in helping us stay up (Fernandez, Amat, Baston, Llorente, Montero, Rangel) perhaps a Spaniard or South American? Pelligrini has experience in the PL - would he be interested?
An "escape specialist" like Tony Pulis? Not my cup of tea, but as they say, "any port in a storm"
Chris Coleman? Not sure he is the right guy in these circumstances.

Thing is, It's unfair to dismiss someone until you find out who's accountable for our problems. There are a lot of rumours going around that Huw is interfering too much with the footballing side of things. So if that's the case we need a whole overhaul of management IMO.
I don't think it is unfair, he ultimately puts the team on the pitch, he signed the contract and if Hj is interfering well he would have been used to that last season but still signed the contract taking the job. Guidolin said he is happy for others to sign players for him. The bucks stops with him, HJ for all his interference isn't on the training pitch each week, doesn't work out how we are going to set up, doesn't practice our attacking set up (I doubt whether Guidolin does either), doesn't set us up for defensive set pieces. This is all down to Guidolin and ultimately as manger the buck stops with him and we as fans will never know what interference goes on, if there Is then that is a matter for the Yanks to sort. I still believe if we had a stronger personality, someone who is a leader, someone who can motivate, someone who has more than one game plan, then maybe if there is interference it wont affect what happens come 3pm on a Saturday and maybe he will just tell HJ to stay away from footballing matters.
I am sorry to say Guidolin is a weak, clueless manager, for the sake of Swansea city and for us to have any chance to remain in the PL then he has to be sacked immediately.

TBH after this weekend I'm of the opinion that Guidolin needs to go also. But if there are external factors affecting his management then the problem won't go away. We all know what happened to Laudrup after he stood his grounds against Huw and look how that turned out.
So my point is, if there is too much interference then only partly solving the problem (sacking the manager) isn't going to cure the whole problem for us.

Swan you are right, but we have managed before and getting rid of Guidolin is at least getting rid of half the problem and that is a start.
I think this is a little indication of what's going on at our club. Totally out of touch with the fans.

Its obvious whats happening ! Jenkins is acting as interpreter for gwendolin to the players and telling them what jinx thinks they should do and not what gwendolin wants which is why helooks so baffled after every game we lose !

That's why I want Giggs brought in. One way or another, he'd sort Huw out. The Yanks would most likely listen to him over Huw with his footballing status. Not to mention he's hungry to succeed.
